The Clay House Seafront Apartment - 3 Bedrooms

The Clay House is a unique holiday apartment, gloriously positioned between Margate Main Sands and Dreamland. It’s less than a five minute walk from Margate station and perfectly located to explore all of Margate’s attractions by foot.

With a dramatic double height living space overlooking Margate Main Sands, staying at the Clay House is a remarkable experience. The apartment was designed by internationally renowned creative studio Bompas & Parr and built by local artisans over a two year period

Watch the sunset on the terrace before feasting round an elegant dining table. Most furniture in the property is bespoke and follows a 1970s aesthetic. After dinner a cave-like seating area with record player and fire creates a cosy retreat from the seafront.

The colours of the Clay House are taken from Turner’s iconic Margate paintings: walls are plastered with self-coloured pink terracotta clay, the cantilevered ziggurat staircase is an intense blue whilst stormy deep green panelling leads to the upstairs bedrooms.

For bathing there’s the choice of a cantilevered bath overlooking the beach or a shower flooded with natural light on the top floor

Please note that the Clay House is accessed via two flights of stairs.

Radiators are in all bedrooms and there are towel radiators in both the bathrooms. There is a radiator downstairs along with a fire place. Off season you may need use both of these to warm up the downstairs.
