  • Totally escape to the end of the road and get right away from it all. Relax in total silence with no traffic noise at all.Walks from your doorstep through the wetland or follow the old logging roads up through beautiful native bush alongside the Patarau river. The West Coast beaches are just a few minutes drive down the road with long sandy beaches and rock pools in between. Enjoy our complimentary guided tour through our glow worm grotto and our spectacular night sky
    Chalet Rata has a queen bed downstairs and a queen and a single bed upstairs. The fully equipped kitchen has a medium sized fridge / freezer, a microwave, an electric frypan and a barbecue. All cutlery and crockery are provided.
    Chalet Rata is wheel chair friendly with a ramp leading up to the balcony, a wet area bathroom and doorways that can accommodate wheel chairs.

Quite possibly the most relaxing wonderful peaceful weekend away we’ve had! A stunning piece of paradise in the remotest part of the Tasman/West Coast.Throughly recommend staying . The drive to the property is spectacular.

North western South Island getaway

Great place to go and chill with nature for a day or 3. Lovely weather, easy bush walks, glow worms excursion. Owners are helpful and knowledgeable on the local flora and fauna.

Hidden gem!

Absolutely lovely stay, away from people, and in a stunning area of Golden Bay! The hosts were welcoming and full of information. The walk around the property was delightful and not too far for little legs. We stayed with our 4 and 6 year old and thet loved it. Thank you :)
