Captain's House - Sv. Jakov, Nerezine, Croatia

Escape from it all, at this charming house for 8 is in the peaceful village of St Jakov, just 300m from the sea. It is in a quiet corner of Lošinj Island, surrounded by unspoiled nature and suits friends or families of all ages.

The entrance is through a private courtyard. Here guests can relax in total privacy and enjoy the small swimming pool or sunbathe on deck chairs. There is a dining table and BBQ for meals al fresco.

The front door and two French windows lead from the courtyard into the open-plan living area that is furnished with two sofas, a flat-screen TV and a dining table for 8. A hatch connects the kitchen to the dining area. The kitchen is equipped with a cooker hob, oven and a fridge/freezer.

In addition to the courtyard, there is a large roof terrace and a private garden, surrounded by mature trees.

SLEEPING
Bedroom 1: The airy master bedroom has a private balcony overlooking the courtyard and a second door that leads out to the spacious roof terrace. It is furnished with a comfortable double bed with a wardrobe and drawers.
Bedroom 2: This cosy bedroom has 2 single beds, a wardrobe and a private balcony.
Bedroom 3: Another light-filled bedroom with a double bed, wardrobe and balcony.
Bedroom 4: This studio room can be used as a sitting/TV room during the day. There is a single bed and a sofa that converts into a second single bed.

BATHROOMS
There are two independent bathrooms, one on the ground floor and one upstairs. Both are appointed with a shower, basin and WC.

LOCATION
The island of Lošinj remains unspoiled by development, but there are plenty of adventures to be had. The house is less than 5 minutes from the pretty fishing village of Nerezine which has a lively port where visitors can rent a boat to explore the coast.

If you can tear yourself away from some of the most beautiful beaches in Croatia, then the town of Mali Lošinj (20 minutes) makes a great day out. It is famous for its large harbour and 19th-century villas in nearby Čikat bay. The Museum of Apoxyomenos is the island’s main cultural attraction.

For self-catering there are some supermarkets in Mali Lošinj and an excellent fish market where you can purchase the freshest fish to cook at home.

There are several watersports schools on the island where visitors can learn to sail, windsurf or surf and the pristine sea means that there is excellent visibility for snorkelling and scuba diving. For hiking enthusiasts trails to Lošinj’s highest mountain (Osorcica) start from the village.

The island is only reachable via ferry from the Croatian mainland. The closest international airport is at Rijeka (2 hours 10 minutes including ferry).
