The Space:
Gums n Roses by Tiny Away is a peaceful farm stay offering a cozy escape situated in Macclesfield, South Australia. Surrounded by gum trees and native wildlife, the property provides a serene retreat while still being close to the Fleurieu Peninsula and the world-class McLaren Vale wine region.
This town is easily accessible through Strathalbyn, Mount Barker, Warrawong Wildlife Sanctuary, and Hahndorf. Here in Macclesfield's holiday homes, you can explore history, local cuisines, and wildlife in the South Australia region.
A cozy 190-square-foot tiny home with a lofted queen-sized bed and a convertible double bed couch on the ground floor. with easy access to water, split air conditioning, a kitchenette, cooking equipment, and excellent bathroom facilities. These amenities include an eco-friendly cassette toilet with a removable waste-holding tank, hand basin, and gas-heated shower.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you're booking for a group, we also have a second tiny home, “Rosewood Mac” (situated 50 meters away from the shed), available with 24 hours' notice in advance.
Guest Access:
Guests will have access to the tiny home and its surrounding areas, except the land host's private residence and electric-fenced garden.
ADVISORY:
- Bring your own firewood to use the fire pit.
- Expect farm animals and machinery noise on our property.
- Due to the nature of the property, abundant wildlife may be present
- Please do not enter animal paddocks or yards without the land host's permission.
- Please note that the fence in front of the Tiny House is electric, as horses may be in the adjoining paddock.
- If you plan to bring your horse, please inform the land host in advance.
- Please advise that we have riding lessons and horse training that may take place nearby on occasion.
- Please keep in mind that we have horse owners visiting their horses occasionally and riders taking lessons once or twice per week.
Activities
Visiting horses' accommodation or boarding is available for:
- $25 for indoor stables
- $15 per night in electrified yards
- $20 per night in the yard with shelter
- Picnic via donkey-drawn cart is available for an extra cost of $250 per couple.
- Horse riding using our horses is $110 per lesson while half hour is $70. For guests who brought their horses for lessons, the cost is $85.
The Neighborhood:
Gums n Roses by Tiny Away is located in the charming town of Macclesfield, in South Australia. Our tiny house is just 45 minutes from Adelaide CBD, surrounded by bushland, farmland, and vineyards. You’ll enjoy a day of indulgence with some of Adelaide Hills’ most celebrated restaurants and wineries, including Yuki in the Hills, Comida in Hahndorf, and Hahndorf Hill Winery.
Mount Barker offers a vibrant main street lined with historic buildings, cafes, and restaurants, while nearby Strathalbyn is renowned for its heritage architecture, beautiful gardens, and peaceful river walks. For nature lovers, Warrawong Wildlife Sanctuary provides the chance to see native wildlife such as koalas, kangaroos, and platypuses.
Getting Around:
By car:
- 40 min drive to/from Adelaide
By public transport:
- No public transport direct to Macclesfield but taxis and Uber available between Mt Barker and Macclesfield
- Train and bus from Melbourne to Adelaide approximately 10-12 hours, 8 hours by private car. One hour flying to Adelaide Airport, then 40 minutes drive to Macclesfield
Other Things to Note:
- No smoking allowed on the property
- Mobile reception is good for Optus and Telstra.
- No unregistered guests or visitors are allowed.
- Compost bins are provided to dispose of trash properly
- We would like to advise guests that longer stays or later check-outs will incur an additional charge.
- Pets allowed with 24 hrs notice (max 2 dogs). $30 cleaning fee per stay. Must be leashed. Full policy sent before arrival.
Important note:
- BBQ grills and outdoor fire pits are not available during a total fire ban
- Dropping cigarette butts on dry grass can start a bushfire. Please put out your cigarettes properly
- For stays of 5 nights or more, an additional cleaning fee will be collected to help maintain our cassette toilets and ensure a clean and fresh experience for all guests. We appreciate your understanding.
