"A week at the Hilltop Retreat was great…a month would have been better. This quaint little cottage provided a cozy but plentiful space for our family of four. We enjoyed the large, open yard, with plenty of room for outdoor activities, and the beautiful ocean view while sitting and drinking coffee every morning. We made great use of the golf clubs, kayaks and bicycles. The cottage provided a great base for us while we explored the south shore. We hope to visit again very soon!"

"This is a great place to stay in Lunenburg- a short walk to the harbour and the Fisheries Museum and right across the street from a school (great place for kids to play). Check in was easy and the home is cute and clean. The kitchen had everything we needed and there was a BBQ on the deck. The beds were comfy and the laundry facilities were full size. The home is bright and feels spacious and the private deck is a quiet and peaceful spot to relax. We would love to go back."

"This is a beautiful cabin right on the lake, very peaceful and relaxing! It is a good location for day trips to Lunenberg and the coast, and Kejimkujik NP. Well equipped kitchen (be sure to get groceries before arriving as limited stores nearby). Two canoes made for a fun day of paddling around the lake from island to island. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!"

"Lots of amenities. Owners very helpful in recommending local restaurants. Enjoyed finding mussels and sea glass on the little beach as well as the antics of the "rock" beavers. The heated pool was a plus. Absolutely wonderful views of the bay."

"Beautiful location, inside is bright and modern, beds are comfy, has A/C but breeze off ocean was more than enough to keep cool at night, being able to lay in bed and listen to the ocean is a nice change. There was lots of birds out in the water and both nights there was a seal no too far from shore."

"This cottage is straight out of a movie. Situated in a quaint fishing village on a private property overlooking the rocky coast, it was exactly what I imagined it would be. It is pretty typical to be a little let down once you arrive at a vacation rental because the pictures usually make it look more impressive than it actually is. That was not our experience with the Whalesback cottage. The pictures included in the VRBO listing are an accurate representation of this property.The cottage was...

"From the minute we arrived we felt right at home. The owners live next door, so we stopped over to let them know we were there and to get dinner suggestions. They gave us our privacy, but let us know they were there if we needed anything. This was one of the nicest vacation rentals we have stayed in, the house was very clean and nicely decorated. The weather was perfect, we were able to take the kayaks two mornings before heading out for a day of sight seeing. We will definitely stay there again...
