Welcome to beautiful Val Lumnezia - the Valley of Light! In the center of the village stands the venerable and fully renovated Casa De Mont from the 17th century. This typical Grisons building, with its thick walls, has had a dynamic history as a residence, later as a monastery, and finally as a restaurant, and has been lovingly and authentically restored over the past 10 years. Here you will find your small, charming oasis of well-being - your casa M. To the left of the building, right in front of the separate and exclusive entrance to the casa M, is your reserved parking space, available to you 24/7. Seven steps of an old stone staircase lead you to the forecourt, where a wooden bench awaits you, an ideal spot for the first espresso of the day or a cigarette. Through the large glass door, which floods the entrance with light, you enter the foyer. The closet on the left side serves as a screen for the living area and offers plenty of space for jackets, coats, shoes, hats, and gloves. On the right is a large radiator, helpful for drying jackets and shoes or ski boots. A standout feature is the beautiful oak floor, which extends throughout the entire apartment except for the bathrooms. Past the mentioned closet, to the left, opens the spacious living, dining, and kitchen area. The fold-out sofa can be used either as a sofa or a daybed for relaxing, and serves as a high-quality bed for an adult or up to two children at night. The armchair invites you to linger and read. Three radiators ensure a cozy, warm home. In the living room, you will also find the router for the Wi-Fi, which ensures excellent reception throughout the apartment. Next to it, a Sonos Cube brings a bit of rhythm to the room. The two rear windows overlook the garden. To the right, the dining area features a beautiful wooden table and four comfortable chairs. Additionally, in the far corner, a Nespresso machine is available for your daily use - don't forget to bring your favorite capsules. Another highlight is the large wall poster behind the dining table featuring two ibexes - this makes the living area appear even larger and radiates a pleasant calm. The kitchen is modern and fully equipped, with a slate countertop that is easy to clean. The extra-large dishwasher also makes kitchen work easier. A large refrigerator with a separate freezer and a modern oven are naturally included. Cleaning supplies, toilet paper, and kitchen utensils can be found in the back cabinet - various information is also posted on the cabinet door. Additionally, the kitchen cube has cabinets on the back side by the dining table, offering additional storage space. A special feature of this 2 1/2-room apartment is certainly the separate toilet with the washer-dryer tower, which is available to you for stays of 4 days or more. Through the old, historic wooden door, you enter the spacious sleeping area. Caution - please note the step that leads down to the bedroom and the somewhat limited height of the door frame. The bedroom is spacious, and we assure you a good night's sleep in the large, comfortable box spring bed. The wide armchair invites you to linger and can be converted into a comfortable lounger if necessary. Two of the three windows in the bedroom face the main street. Since traffic through the village is not very heavy, you can sleep well and peacefully even with the window half or fully open. The large closet in the back left offers plenty of space for your personal belongings. Another highlight of the apartment is accessed through the door next to the closet in the bedroom: the bathroom. Designed entirely in gray slate, it offers a large shower with a rain shower head. After a long day of hiking or skiing, there's nothing better than relaxing here. The entire apartment has been newly renovated and equipped with high-quality materials and appliances. Therefore, we especially look forward to guests who appreciate and take care of this standard. The entire building is heated with a geothermal probe, solar energy (for warm water), and (only in freezing phases) oil. The garden behind the house can also be used and should be enjoyed in harmony with all other residents. In the basement of the building (accessible through the main entrance on the street), a ski room is available for your skis, ski boots and bicycles. We have a dog ourselves - therefore, dogs are generally allowed. What we do not offer is a television - otherwise, the apartment is very well-equipped for a relaxing holiday. We would be very pleased to welcome you as our guests at casa M.
Other leisure facilities: casa M is an ideal starting point for many leisure activities. Just about 400 meters away is the chairlift from Vella to the Obersaxen/Mundaun ski area, offering 120 km of diverse slopes, 15 facilities, cozy mountain restaurants and snow bars, a snow park, sledding, and winter hiking trails. Additionally, in winter, you can enjoy the cross-country skiing trails in Degen. It’s also worth spending a day exploring the famous ski area of Flims/Laax – it's less than a half-hour drive away. In the summer, Val Lumnezia is a wonderful place for walks and extended hikes. For example, the Davos Munts bathing lake is only about a 30-minute walk from casa M, where you can also enjoy a meal at a cozy restaurant or have a refreshing apéritif. Bike excursions in the valley are highly recommended due to the low traffic. Various activities take place in the valley during the summer, such as the Lumnezia Open Air Music Festival or the open-air cinema at the aforementioned bathing lake. We also recommend day trips to the breathtaking Rhine Gorge or to Vals (both about 30 minutes by car). Additionally, Laax has a golf course in Sagogn (about 20 minutes by car).
Other living room features (Living room1): The living room is very cozy and can be lit in various ways. A comfortable armchair with a stool and a small side table add to the homeliness. There's a Sonos Cube available for music. The sofa bed can be easily folded in or out to provide a full bed. While all windows have curtains, unlike the bedroom, they cannot completely darken the room. The wooden table accommodates four people. In the corner at the back, there's a Nespresso machine for your use. Pictures hang on the walls, and additional accessories make the space inviting and pleasant. The real highlight is the huge Alpine panorama with the two ibexes behind the dining table.
Other bedroom furniture (Bedroom1): The bedroom features good lighting, with a bedside table and reading lamp on each side of the bed. The bed linen is freshly washed but not ironed. Each guest is provided with a duvet and 2 pillows. The special curtains allow the room to be completely darkened. A wide armchair invites you to linger and can be converted into a comfortable lounger if necessary. Additionally, there is a large double wardrobe providing ample storage space. The room's comfort is further enhanced by a small mirror and a picture.
Other kitchen equipment (Kitchen1): The kitchen is a focal point with its large white cube and black granite countertop. Inside the cube, you'll find plenty of storage space (including on the backside near the dining table), as well as the sink, dishwasher, and Bora glass ceramic cook top (induction) with integrated ventilation. On the backside, there are numerous cabinets providing ample storage, as well as the oven and the large refrigerator with a separate freezer. The kitchen can also be well lit.
Vella is the unofficial capital of the Lumnezia region, situated at an elevation of 1240 meters and home to around 500 residents. Vella is located in the outer third of the valley on a gently sloping terrace facing southeast. The municipality's area extends up to the ridge of the Mundaun-Sezner chain. Vella includes Pleif with the parish church of Sogn Vintschegn. The church is located a few minutes' walk below the village at the edge of the plateau, which steeply descends to the Glenner river. The village center of Vella is characterized by sturdy stone houses, which trace back to the de Mont family. In the village square stands the chapel of Sogn Roc, and right behind it, the de Mont castle looms. Away from the main road, the rural character of the village is unmistakable. Charming wooden houses are interspersed with traditional barns.
