Bourbon Trail Dream

We booked this house since it was centrally located on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. We were not disappointed! House was Beautiful, comfy, nice and clean. 100% would book this house again! Communication with property manager was a breeze and check in/out was easy peasy.

Perfect KBT Homebase

Loved the large backyard for our beagle! The huge tree gave loads of shade and bird watching. Would suggest having a few flashlights or additional lighting in the backyard for the last bedtime potty in the dark, though. Enjoyed the open floor plan and the front roomā€™s king bed and window seat, especially for our pup.

Perfect Location For Whiskey Lovers

We were looking for a place in close proximity to as many distilleries as possible. With the exception of the few way south in Bardstown (and Jim Beam in Clermont), this was absolutely perfect! We knew Heaven Hill and Jim Beam were about 55 minutes away, so we did those in the same day. If youā€™re the same, just plan your distillery visits appropriately. The property was perfect for a long weekend getaway. Clean, nicely decorated and equipped with almost everything you need (the only downside I can say is that we werenā€™t able to find washcloths for showers - I donā€™t know if we missed them, or if you need to bring your own. Clean, comfortable beds. Plenty of space for 2 (or even 3 couples). The hot tub was awesome and the fire pit area was great. Nicely maintained yard. *Note to owners or property manager: the hot tub filter needs replaced soon (if you havenā€™t done it already by the time you see this review). I would 100% stay here again. As a matter of fact, we have other friends wanting to do the whole bourbon trail experience in the next year or 2, and if this property is still a Vrbo, we will absolutely look to book it again.

Better Experience Than Staying at a Hotel

The VRBO Shelbyville house we stayed at was top tier, and quite frankly felt way more inviting and homely than just staying at a hotel. With all the featured amenities, the space to spread out and everyone to have their own sense of privacy, and lastly location being a bit outside of town, group felt that we got to see and experience a lot more of what KY truly offers. It was a great experience overall, and I cannot recommend it enough!!! The ease of booking the property, working with the property manager to help manage arrival and departure expectationsā€¦ it was all very smooth, simple and turnkey. We had a great time, and are already looking forward to our next trip.

Exactly what we were hoping for

Renting houses these days can be hit or miss to say the least. This place is an absolute hit. Thereā€™s always a little anxiety arriving at a rental but it was a pleasant surprise my wife and kids were all happy witch isnā€™t easy to do trust me.

Great place to rest your hat between distilleries

This was a good resting place for visiting the bourbon trail. We went to Buffalo trace, four roses, castle and key, and woodford reserve. Pet owners will be thrilled to know this properties backyard is fully fenced now and our dog LOVED getting to run free! We felt relaxed with our pets here and place was clean. Beds were clean and comfy

Great time with friends

The house had everything we needed to spend the weekend with friends. Plenty of seating and a well stocked kitchen. Neighborhood was very quiet. Only downside was a bit of a drive to downtown Louisville.

The Perfect Stay

I travel a lot. A lot. This is the BEST place Iā€™ve ever stayed. So clean, so private, so comfortable, so beautifully decorated (the bourbon lover will appreciate the decor), so private. Great Kentucky getaway

We had a great time staying in Shelbyville for the weekend. The house offered everything we needed for a couple days and lots of extras that made our stay very comfortable. Cozy home with perfect location

My brother and I and our spouses stayed here as a base for exploring bourbon distilleries. The house was perfect for us and was beautifully decorated. I regret not using the hot tub and fire pit but the snow and cold weather was too much to hang out outdoors!

Overall great, but there are issues.

There are a few issues with the listing and the property. Very happy overall with our stay. However, second bathroom door does not latch. No heat register in the second bathroom which makes it very cold. Master bedroom door does not latch. Grounds were not kept up very well. Extensions cords laying across the back sidewalk. Yard is NOT fenced in like the description indicates. We loved the location and the overall layout of the house, just needs some attention.

Bourbon Tasting for 60th birthdays

3 Generations Weekend Fun

The best! We had very few snags. The interior of the house is beautiful. The beds are so comfortable. The hot tub and ā€œturfā€ area perfect for my 3 15 year old granddaughters. We really enjoyed the fire pit. It was fully stocked with plenty of wood, lighters, and fire starters. The time was relaxing and quiet.

Family vacation

The property was a nice home for our family to stay in for the week with lots of nice amenities inside and outside. We enjoyed having the hot tub and very clean and comfortable sleeping arrangements. We appreciated we could bring our dog along. I was told by the property management the yard was completely fenced when I inquired about the property, but the yard is only fenced on 3 sides.

Fun stay close to Bulleit

Very much enjoyed this house, we made use of the hot tub, the fire pit, and the grill! Enjoyed playing shuffleboard and cornhole as well. Woodford reserve and four roses were a bit of a drive but Bulleit was very close. For Buffalo trace, I recommend parking in the town and taking the trolley that goes around (we didnā€™t do this, but I wish we had). Highly recommend this house to anyone looking for a nice spot to hang out while doing the bourbon trail!

This place was amazing and the host was so great. This place was in an awesome location, close to everything but far away to relax after traveling Kentucky. The place was set up with an informative travel book and the propriety was so cool. Would 100% recommend for bourbon trail goers!

Shelbyville Farmhouse - Great location

We enjoyed our stay at the Shelbyville Farmhouse. Positives: Perfect location. Very close to Bulleit Distillery & an easy drive to Louisville, Frankfort & Lexington. Local food: The Farm Kitchen, La Cocina de Mama & The Stave were our faves. The house was clean & organized when we arrived except for dirty dishes in the dishwasher. Plenty of kitchenware. The Hot Tub was a nice way to relax after walking around distilleries. The house layout is odd with varying elevations of each room; could be a challenge for those with mobility issues. Negatives: Listed as having a fenced yard. There is a fence but it does not enclose the entire yard. On our 2nd day we returned to find signs that someone had been in the property while we were out. Objects were moved & window blinds raised. It really bothered us. Either someone had come into the property or there were ghosts. A call to the property manager confirmed there was a miscommunication with a pest control inspector & they entered while we were out. Speaking of ghosts, there may be some spirits around this 100-year-old house. On 3 different occasions the electric fireplace turned on by itself. I asked the property manager if it was connected to the HVAC or a timer. Once they confirmed it wasnā€™t, I unplugged it & luckily it never turned on again. Our dogs were also spooked & constantly watching something. There is a 19th century cemetery 100 yards away. Maybe we did have some unseen visitors? I give the property 4 stars due to fence.
