We donāt often make a fuss about our hotel stays, even when they donāt fully meet expectations. But what we experienced during our 4 days in the Native Hyde Park was just not acceptable. There are so many things that were not handled properly, despite the front desk people doing their best to hold things together.
It started with the room not being ready for check in, the wifi was out for ~ 24 hours on arrival, workers are streaming in and out of the property as construction is underway on the hotel and various rooms (starting as early as 7:30am on our last day, you can hear the hammering and sawing from the room). We learned that our room was recently remodeled and it was clearly not ready for guests. There was construction dust throughout the place, no trash cans in any of the rooms or bathrooms, we had to request essentials like paper towels, plates/cutlery, as well as shampoo/soap. Honestly, we just got tired of asking for things that should have already been in the room. Additionally, the toilet upstairs doesnāt flush, it just runs continually. We had maintenance come by asking to do some appliance testing to ensure they were safe to use⦠which is concerning, given that weād been using them for 3 days.
Bottom line is that itās just not acceptable for a hotel to be balancing renovations with hosting guests without providing notice to people who booked these rooms. The location of the hotel was very convenient, but little beyond that was a positive experience.
