It is very much a family summer cottage, and that is part of its charm. The porch is gracious and comfortable, the bedrooms too. The cottage is quite dark (for those who may not be familiar with Mt. Gretna cottages!) because the walls are original wood and the whole place is surrounded with trees. There is little overhead lighting, so be warned! However, the cottage is well equipped with modern electronics and conveniences. The small kitchen has no counter space, so probably don't plan big baking projects here! It's a lovely place for enjoying the woods, sitting on the porch listening to the woodthrushes and katydids, and enjoying and all the charms that Mt. Gretna has to offer.
I was particularly delighted to find traces here of Lena, a childhood friend of my grandmother's in the 1920s, in a couple of framed photographs and a commemorative plate - evidence of the cottage's long personal history!
Don't come expecting slick modern comfort and fixtures - relax and enjoy a very individualized family space. It's a lovely place for a getaway.
