Staff wasn’t the friendliest, not outright rude, but just not nice or willing to help. For example, we requested early check in and we were told it wasn’t possible. The reason the receptionist gave us for her inability to check us in earlier was that the room assigned to us was not clean yet. Understandable, however, when we asked if there might be a different room available (mind you, we didn’t ask for an upgrade, just for another similar room that had already been cleaned), we were told that our room assignment can’t be changed, no explanation, no apology, just no, it’s already assigned and it’s not possible to change it. Additionally, once we did eventually check in, we discovered we got assigned to a very disappointing room located directly over the garage, which felt more like we were staying in a motel than an artsy hotel. The disappointment was compounded by the fact that the water temperature on the bathroom sink was extremely difficult to control - it went from freezing cold to boiling hot with the tiniest movement left or right, so I basically ended up brushing my teeth and washing my face with ice cold water. As a result of our first day’s experience, we ended up checking out after only one night, preferring to lose $200 rather than spend another night in such an unwelcome environment.
