Despite what appeared to be a recent renovation, the hotel and room weren’t updated with the best quality work (already cracked tiles, gaps in tiling, drywall not fully sanded down, baseboards gaping). The public areas felt tired too and they shared that they ran out of carpet to finish the job so have make-shift washable carpets and wood framing by the lobby. Cleaning was not great either with crumbs on the room floor and some leftover crusty toothpaste in the bathroom. Our room...

"It’s a hostel- with the benefit of being a university’s dorm rooms being rented out. You get the great pricing of a traditional hostel, but the added plus of your own private room. Of course, it being Canada and A/C not being as universal as it is in the US- it can be hard for my fellow Americans to get use to the hot rooms during the summer. Thankfully they do provide fans.
