Warning to anyone wanting to book this property on Expedia! We paid an average of $550/night, and Expedia only paid the hotel $319/night! It might not have hurt as badly if we had had a better experience. Everywhere you go, you see things in disrepair. Paint chipping on the outside railings, on the steps and on the furniture in the room. Worn-out rug in front of the main entrance. Both lampshades in our room had holes in them. The screen door barely closed and needed to be replaced. The air conditioner was extremely loud. The floor of the restaurant was filthy, and I had to ask for some napkins to clean off the spider webs next to our table on the balcony. Plus the service was poor.The Expedia listing said we got free breakfast. All we got was $10 vouchers for the first day which barely covered half of the cost of breakfast. We never got our room cleaned because apparently you have to put a sign out which we were not told about. We were later told this was because of the COVID pandemic which,BTW, officially ended more than two years ago! When I called at 3:30 asking to have the room serviced they said the maids left at 4:00, but still never sent anyone to clean the room.
I will say the location is great and the view of Lake Como from the room was beautiful, but not worth it at any price. When I spoke to the manager after our stay, he was pleasant and very apologetic, but the best he could offer would be a free one-night stay. And WHY would we possibly want to go back??
