Monte Rosa Rural Guesthouse – A Place for Slow Living in the Algarve
For over 33 years, Monte Rosa has welcomed travelers searching for something simple and real: quiet mornings, birdsong instead of traffic, and evenings under star-filled skies.
This is not a resort.
It is a peaceful rural home where nature, simplicity and warm hospitality come first.
If you enjoy slow mornings, yoga, meditation, reading under a tree or walking through the countryside, Monte Rosa may feel like the place you didn’t know you were looking for.
A peaceful countryside retreat near Lagos
Monte Rosa Rural Guesthouse is surrounded by almond, olive and fig trees on 10 acres of Algarve countryside, yet only about 10 minutes from the beautiful beaches of Lagos.
Our small guesthouse is made up of charming renovated farm buildings with 8 unique rooms and apartments, each with its own character and outdoor seating area.
Here you can experience the quiet rhythm of rural life while still being close to everything the Algarve offers — stunning beaches, coastal walks, surfing, local markets and beautiful villages.
The Monte Rosa atmosphere
Many guests come to Monte Rosa to slow down and reconnect with a simpler rhythm of life.
Days often unfold gently here:
Morning coffee with birds singing

An afternoon reading by the pool
Evenings watching the sunset and stars
Over the years we have welcomed artists, writers, yoga practitioners, surfers, nature lovers and slow travelers from around the world.
Some guests stay for a few days.
Others stay for weeks.
Many return again and again.
The Round House – our space for yoga and gatherings
At the heart of Monte Rosa is our beautiful Round House, a special space where we host yoga, meditation and creative gatherings throughout the year.
Depending on the weekly program, guests may enjoy:

• music evenings
• creative workshops
• small cultural gatherings
These activities are optional and designed to enhance the peaceful and creative spirit of the guesthouse.
Food & shared meals
Food is an important part of life at Monte Rosa.
Guests can enjoy our farm-style breakfast, with fresh fruit, homemade granola, breads, cheeses and eggs from our own chickens.
Twice a week we prepare a home-cooked dinner, using seasonal ingredients from our garden whenever possible. These evenings often become relaxed and joyful gatherings around the table.
