Great stay for our group of seven

Beautiful property with amazing views. It was perfect for our group of 7 including kids and adults. Pool and covered hot tub (important in rainy season) were awesome - great place to relax after a busy day of adventuring around Arenal volcano. Host was very helpful, even providing fresh eggs at arrival. The only watchout is it is a bit far from everything - restaurants are 20 minutes away and La Fortuna was 40 minutes. Overall we had a great time!

Absolutely incredible stay!

My family spent 4 nights at this amazing home in Costa Rica. The inside of the home is clean, updated, luxurious, and large enough for everyone to have space. The outside of the home is a place I didn't want to leave! Gorgeous landscaping, a fun pool and hot tub, lots of seating, and an unbelievable view. We also saw toucans and many other birds from the back patio! Magdalena was so helpful from beginning to end, answering all of our questions and giving thorough explanations. Esmerelda did laundry and kept the house clean allowing us to relax even more. I would say the only slight downside for us was how far it was from La Fortuna, which I knew from reading previous reviews. It was worth it for the experience in such a wonderful place, but we did get tired with all the driving and we should have planned our groceries better to eat more meals at home. Oh, and the breakfast we got on the last day that Magdalena suggested was our very best meal of the entire trip!

Paradise!

We travel quite a bit and have stayed in many vacation homes. This one was, hands-down our favorite. The house is beautiful and thoughtfully appointed with everything you could need. The view is stunning. The owner/host was so kind and made our stay even more memorable. Even our two teenage boys loved the house and didn’t want to leave! It is about a 45 minute drive into la Fortuna, which we were ok with because we wanted to be somewhere quiet and peaceful. There is a small town just down the hill with a couple of super markets and a bakery. This house itself is an experience. As you plan your activities, be sure to give yourself some downtime to enjoy being here too!

Stunning

What can I say about this property….the absolutely stunning views matched by an absolutely amazing home made our stay feel like we were at home. Magdelina was absolutely amazing host and Esmeralda took pride in making sure our stay was above expectations. Strongly and highly recommend this property to anyone looking to get away and enjoy the views of Costa Rica!

July stay

Wonderful home. Gorgeous grounds with toucans, hummingbirds and parrots. Incredible view and inside decorated very nice. Very comfy beds. Very secure. Plenty of room for our family of 5. Enjoyed using pool and hot tub too. Esmeralda was wonderful with daily housekeeping. Magdalena was fabulous with info on anything we needed and even recommended a chef who came and prepared dinner for us one night. Wish we had planned more time just to stay at house and enjoy. Took 30-45 minutes to get to various la fortuna activities but we enjoyed the beautiful home at the end of our full days.

Privacy, Luxury, View, Relaxation.....Pura Vida

Our family enjoyed our stay at this wonderful home in early June. The setup is perfect: wrap around porch, two outdoor sitting areas, outdoor dining, pool, hot tub, grill, perfect for outdoor living. And cover everywhere if it rains. Indoors was just as nice with everything you need - we did not have to worry about missing anything - everything is there for kitchen and bath. Hostesses were amazing with the best communication. Daily housekeeping is provided if you choose, including laundry, so pack light! The view is better than the pictures. Roughly 30-40 minutes from La Fortuna but we did not mind the daily drive as a trade off for the privacy, peace and quiet, view, and private pool, etc. Lots of birds and animals to watch right on the porch. Gated community as well. All in all, a great way to experience the real Costa Rica, away from the hustle and bustle. We really felt like this home helped us experience what Costa Rica is really about - nature, adventure, beauty, and friendy people. Enjoy!

An Incredible Place

Beginning with timely communication from Magdelina we knew where we were going and how long it would take us to get there. House is fantastic. Beautiful views, private, well laid out. A very special place. Away from all, so a drive to get anywhere, but so worth it. Magdelina as super responsive to our needs and questions. She is a gem! A peaceful retreat that we will always remember, yearn to return to and feel so lucky we were able to experience. THANK YOU!!!

Paradise! Highly recommend!!

We absolutely loved our stay here. The house and the grounds are beautiful and very well maintained. The kitchen is well-stocked. The hosts could not have been more wonderful. The 30-40 minute drive to activities in Fortuna was totally worth it to have the seclusion and natural beauty.

Modern Home with a Gorgeous View

The property is beautiful and felt very secure. The home is modern, spacious, clean and has a spectacular view. Magdalena was quick to respond to all of our questions and requests. She even provided us with drinks and groceries for breakfast to get us started. Upon our arrival Esmeralda (the housekeeper) met us at the house and showed us around. Both ladies are extremely nice and welcoming. My only complaint is that the location given in the description is not accurate. The map on VRBO shows the property in El Tanque but it is actually about 30 minutes east near Muelle. Not a huge deal but it is further from La Fortuna than we thought.

Modern Home with Amazing View

We really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful home in El Tanque. The home is so clean and modern with incredible views! We spent so much time outdoors in the comfortable furniture on the wide porch or in the new swimming pool. We ended up cooking for ourselves quite a bit because the kitchen was so wonderful, as was the outdoor grill. We especially appreciated the dishwasher and the oven. Everything was so clean and new! Same goes for the beds, and they were so comfortable. Magdalena was an excellent host! She gave us great recommendations on restaurants and was very easy to reach when we had a question. The property did come with housekeeping services--we only used it one day during our stay but it was very nice to have someone come in and freshen our towels and clean the kitchen and bathrooms. The property is a bit farther from town than we have been used to in the past, but we quickly adapted, just allowing a little more time to get up and down the hill from the house. You could get by with a regular car, but we had a 4-wheel drive and I would encourage that--some sections of the drive were steep and rocky. Overall, it was an excellent stay. Highly recommended!!

Great Place and Host

We had a great stay at this beautiful house with our family of five. It is a very nice place. It's in a secluded rural area that is very quiet-yes you need an SUV. We arrived at night but Magdalena our host was there waiting and provided great directions. She was great with recommendations during our stay. It was about a 30 minute drive to the La Fortuna area for neighboring attractions during our stay.

We stayed 5 days and the house is perfect. The views are truly beautiful. The person in the group that gets the master is in for a treat. Never hesitate to call your host. She is fabulous.

First Class Hideaway in the Mountain

The views from this house are amazing. The layout is terrific - with 270 degree views from the vast deck areas. The interior is luxurious. The rancho offers a completely additional leisure space, with BBQ, couches, dining area and hot tub. We enjoyed mornings and afternoons on the decks - sipping coffee and watching the humming birds, parrots and other wildlife visit the property. We have been to many VRBOs, and what made this one truly special was the personal attention from host Magdalena. We have never had a VRBO host who was so responsive and helpful during our stay. She was basically a tour guide - offering terrific recommendations for activities and restaurants (including an amazing breakfast at a local farm).

Luxurious and well-maintained house on a mountain

We had high expectations for this house. I spent hours searching for a place near Fortuna that offered real luxury without risk of misrepresentation. This was the only place, on both vacation websites, that met our criteria. The house and three night stay were amazing! We relaxed, we ate, and we explored. Our kids played and spotted animals and birds. The view was spectacular. I took lots of pictures and called people to show the place on FaceTime. Here are things I hope you find helpful to know. Sorry if I repeat other reviewers. 1. Magdalena is a great host! She made sure our needs were met, and more. She even set us up with breakfast at a nearby farm - probably the best meal of our time in Arenal. 2. The last mile or so of the road to the house is rough. Our front wheel drive Audi Q3 handled it fine, even in the rain. Just drive slowly. The house is close enough to Fortuna and on the way to La Paz Waterfall Gardens. 3. The area is not great for ‘foodies’. Restaurant options are pretty limited and basic. So the more you like to cook (yourself), the longer you’ll want to stay.

Mountain Getaway

The porperty was beautiful and snuggled away in the mountains outside of Lafortuna. Magdalena the host goes above and beyond to ensure you are comfortable. I have booked many times on Vrbo and this is the first time in which the host ensured on a daily basis all your needs were met. She really made my partner and I feel like we were home. I would recommend this property above any other in the area!

Beautiful Home!

Our family loved our stay here. The house is modern with all the conveniences of home. It is located high on a hill side and you can see for miles from the back deck. It is located outside of Fortuna, but we could get to all of the Arenal attractions we wanted to do within a half hour or less.

Spectacular!!!

Magdalena and Max were great at communicating via Whatsapp. She welcomed us into the home and explained everything. The house and its property are just gorgeous and so peaceful. Nature at it's best. To appreciate the view and fresh air, one must be there! Pictures don't do justice. Magdalena thought of everything her guests may need. House was clean and so cozy. She had a beautiful xmas tree!! Comfortable beds with great bedding and towels. Amazing outdoor hot tub with BBQ area, perfect for chilling at night. Make sure you get some local steaks from La Fortuna at Carnicas Carranza!!! And coffee at the red frog in La Fortuna. Best freshly roasted beans coffee!!! Magdalena was always available to answer any questions. Super safe location, just a bit out of the town so a car is a must and possibly SUV type. Worth the drive. This was an amazing experience for us as first time visitors to Costa Rica. People are so friendly and welcoming!! And the best part, this is a country full of cows and beautiful lush pastures, and it is so clean!!! Great coffee and great locally sourced food!!!! We loved it!!

Stay at home in the mountains

Great place to stay!!

This property was exactly as described. Isolated but pretty close to La Fortuna. We couldn’t be more pleased with the house as it large and well looked after. The grounds were very nicely groomed with some beautiful flowers. Magdalena was very pleasant to deal with and she answered all inquiries promptly. We would rate this property a 5 out of 5.
