"Temples super close bars close "

"Amazing location and property. Super helpful hosts."

"This was a good stay! Only issues my friends and I had was that it was a small location, ideal for two people obviously squeezing a third person was like playing Tetris with the Futons and the floor space. Another issue was that the futons were stained with something and considering one of my friends is pretty much germaphobic she didn’t really enjoy that aspect of the stay. Other than that great place, staff was courteous. And the places to walk to was plentiful!"

"Great host and communication. The house is cozy and it had everything we needed. The air conditioning was great in the Japanese heatwave. In just under 10 minutes, you can walk to some of the nicest streets in Kyoto with temples and cafes. However, everything around there closes quite early and becomes really quiet - so be aware if it’s not your vibe. Not a big deal for me, though. The only real issue is that the property is not very accessible: the closest bust stop is about 15 min away and...

"Beautiful, clean, and spacious property with many traditional features and nice architectural details, close to bus stops and the underground; plus shops, cafes, and food available nearby. Host is very helpful and gave a clear explanation of how things worked, what services were available, and how to get in touch. Sake bath on offer is well worth a good soak after a long couple days on your feet exploring the area. Tatami-style mats and futons for the sleeping arrangements may sound a little...

"Absolutely amazing oasis in the heart of crowded Kiyomizu. Beautiful, tranquil, clean guest house with tons of space."

"This property was in the absolute cutest location, very walkable, beautiful view of the river. Everything was close by. Check-in process was easy. The property management was very responsive within 5 or 10 minutes of my messages. I would definitely recommend this property."

"The rooms were very clean and was easy to communicate with the owner. The location makes it easy to get to places by walking. Lots of food spots around the area."

"The property is pretty nice like the two floors. Really enjoyed the place. "

"Great way to do Kyoto with your own place, all beautifully presented and leaves you wanting for nothing, especially handy to have your own washer and dryer if you are in the middle of your trip. Easy check in and quiet location"

"This is only sort of kind of the whole property, Kyoto has very strict tax laws and needs to have a front desk and therefore part of the property is that, additionally the upper floors are inhabited, but none of that matters really because of how wonderful the people and the space are."

"I highly recommend staying here. The location was perfect as a tourist staying close to the main sights in the Gion area of Kyoto. I was able to see Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka with very few people around without getting up too early. The hotel itself was beautiful and comfortable, despite the smaller size. I was worried about it being too small for three American adults, but we all fit comfortably and made it work for our stay there. It’s a great combination of old and new; it looks and feels like...

"This accommodation was exactly as advertised. It was perfect for 4 travelers, was comfortable and very quiet! Location was good as well, within walking distance of Toji Temple, restaurants, and the JR line."

"Our experience at Kyoto Machiya was excellent. The place is amazing, the location is good and the staff were extremelly nice. "

"7人で泊まりましたが椅子が6脚しか無かったのが残念"
