We booked a one-week Christmas vacation at Carambola Resort for our family, excited to enjoy the Caribbean in a beautiful setting. We chose this property first because it’s a Marriott and second because of the stunning location. Unfortunately, from the moment we arrived, it was nothing but disappointment.
Check-in was scheduled for 4:00 PM. We arrived shortly after, only to be told our room wouldn’t be ready for another hour. Not the end of the world, so we decided to grab a drink and an appetizer at the lounge. That decision led to our next frustration. It took—without exaggeration—45 minutes just to receive water, followed by another 10 minutes before the appetizer arrived. When the food finally came, it was overcooked and missing about half of the menu ingredients.
When we finally made it to our room, we discovered there were no sheets for the pullout bed. We called three separate times and were repeatedly told they would be brought up. After waiting and it getting late, we walked up to the desk ourselves, only to be told there were no sheets available at all.
Sadly, things only went downhill from there. Housekeeping was inconsistent, food quality remained poor, and basic service expectations were repeatedly unmet. If there’s one thing this resort did manage to accomplish, it was ruining our family’s Christmas vacation.
