Good for the price.

Needs to be updated , rain leaked and make it stink inside but the property manager sent someone out that day to look at it. Great location steps away from beach and great restaurants. F

Great rental but......

The house itself is in very good condition, the layout of the living space and bedrooms is very logical and takes advantage of every square inch. The location and amenities make the stay very enjoyable. However, poor cleanliness takes away from the experience. The trash left in the yard, left over personal items from the previous party, candy wrappers and cigarette butts on the grounds were eyesores and remedied with a phone call to the property manager. Living the entire week with the numerous stains (some still moist) on the carpet on every floor and on the furniture made it feel like we had overpaid for a cheap motel, especially when you throw in the exorbitant fee for the services provided by VRBO. I would definitely recommend the property but only if it has been thoroughly cleaned.

Fall getaway

We really enjoyed our stay at Summer Winds. We took five teenagers and our dog for my daughter’s birthday. The girls had a blast! They got a lot of use out of the hot tub, played a bunch of foosball, got up early to catch the sunrise in the beach, and much more! Would definitely stay here again!!

Beautiful location!

The location of this property makes it so much more worth it! The walk to the beach is so short and when we went in September, we basically had the beach to ourselves. The patio furniture was perfect for our family of 6 as well. This house was kid friendly as well and came with a high chair and baby gates for the inside and built in gates for the patios. Beds were very comfy and we were so close to lots of local eateries, coffee shops, and shopping! We even took trips to at least three different lighthouses. If we come back to the outer banks we will definitely look into renting this property again.

Fantastic location and gorgeous views!

Enjoyed our stay in this home with its breathtaking views of the ocean. The kitchen is well stocked and the appliances worked well. The AC seemed to have difficulty keeping the upper living area cool, but the downstairs temperature was very comfortable. Very convenient location to restaurants and shopping.

Perfect Weather

Great view of Avalon Pier July 4th fireworks. Fabulous ocean view from the top balcony. Beds were surprisingly very comfortable. The Foose table was enjoyed by both adults and kids. The cargo lift was a pleasant surprise. The check in process needs improvement. Picking up keys from the office is so primitive. Haven’t been required to do this step in several years renting at the Outer Banks. Most offer digital checkin which is so much easier. The place was not very clean upon arrival. Sand found on living area futon, thick presence of dust on vents/register. And under lip of dish washer. One decent size bathroom, one tiny bathroom with shower and a very odd bathroom on top floor. Toilet was useable but tub/shower jacuzzi was so odd - to fill it would have needed 1000’s of gallons of water. And the shower head placement seemed non-useable. Outside shower was dirty - found trash so we never used that either. We had great weather and oceanfront was nice with kids.

Thankful

Spent the week of Thanksgiving in this cozy house on the beach with gorgeous views. The location is also extremely convenient for golf, shopping, restaurants and all supplies needed. Perfect for wonderful time and conversations together.

Awesome beach front property, but loud construction next door

The location is stunning and the property is in great condition. However, the house next door is in the process of being built and that was rather unfortunate. Our dogs did not want to go outside during the day due to the noise and spent the first few days cowering under the beds. The construction crew blocked our driveway a couple times and we had to ask them to move and pretty much got laughed at. There were also surveyors coming onto our back deck and property, which caused me to delay proposing to my fiancée a day... (She still said yes!) All that being said we still had an awesome time and loved the property and its amenities.

Great views!

The house was clean, kitchen well stocked and loved having the extra counter space at the wet bar. Sitting in the deck chairs on the top deck was our favorite spot for enjoying the view. The only thing that upset me about this whole thing was finding this on VRBO only to find out it is listed through an OBX agency as well which is the agency I actually dealt with. So I feel like I got cheated out of money. Having to pay VRBO a deposit and then paying Carolina Shores. If this is the owner’s decision I think it’s horrible. I will definitely not make that mistake again.

Great House. Great Location

This is our sixth trip to KDH. This was by far the nicest house. Seems like it’s in the transition of being updated and still lots of room and the decks are great. We prefer the empty and open beach and we had that every day. Close distance to some of our favorite restaurants as well.

We loved how close this house was to the beach, but unfortunately, the property is extremely out of date and needs to be deep cleaned. There were lots of unpleasant smells in the house, mold in some of the bathrooms, and a problem with cockroaches. We won't be staying at this location again and would recommend that the owner/company updates and deep cleans the property.

The location is in a great area surrounded by some of our favorite restaurants. The house had plenty of comfortable seating to take in the great views and the beds were very comfortable. We would definitely stay here again.

Great early COVID getaway

Fantastic location with easy access to the beach, plenty of parking, and a great outdoor hot tub. Everything you needed was inside and lots of sleeping space (more than we needed for a family of 4). WiFi was solid and allowed for virtual school and work. Would definitely stay here again...

Great Beach Access

This was a great house on the beach! It was a little rustic but very clean and comfortable. A few things need fixing such as the sliding glass door lock which would not allow us to open one door. We had our dogs along too which was great. One suggestion is on the lower deck ramp some of the slats are loose which enabled one of our dogs to escape a few times. It would be good to get those repaired. But overall it was a great house and a great location. We had a wonderful time with our toddler twin grandsons on the beach.
