There was no wifi in the rooms. TV did not work. A long walk to the beach.

Solid 3 Star

Nice location on the beach or close anyway. A little walk over the dunes. Our room had no air con but was ok the night we were there. Restaurant was so so and a lot of kids. Good for families. A solid 3 star place. Place looks a little run down

Relaxing

Really enjoyed our stay at the Dunes with friendly service and interaction with the staff. At the hotel rooms, some chairs on the stoep will be most welcome.

Lovely place but if Muslim to select self-catering

The stay was lovely and relaxing. Just a pity the hotel do not cater for Muslim guests for Halaal breakfast at least.

Boring

Nothing special. Boring area even though close to the beach. The restaurant was very ordinary and breakfast was odd since the hot breakfast was included but not the rest. We did not get the offer to upgrade.

Best stay ever

It was the best place that I have stayed at in a while the staff were very friendly our accommodation was beautiful clean and neat, the overall experience was amazing I will definitely go back

Eine sehr schöne Anlage an einem Traumstrand

Wir waren sehr zufrieden: Top Lage am Strand, schöne Anlage, große saubere Zimmer....haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und verlängert. Das Einzige: Frühstücksauswahl könnte besser sein.

amazing beach and great base to explore the area

the hotel was more family orientated but the proximity with the wonderfull beach and major sites on the garden route made this place an ideal base to explore the region;

Stay at The Dunes Resort, Plettenberg Bay

We booked our stay in September 2015 for December 2015. We booked a double room with a double bed. However, on arrival we were given a hotel room with twin beds. We asked to be moved and had to wait until the next day and move to a room with a double bed. On arrival at our room, we found litter scattered outside the entrance door. We reported this to reception, but the litter was never cleaned up. We reported a faulty outside light on arrival to reception, but the light was not fixed during our four night stay. The meals at the hotel are exceptional, but the poorly trained serving staff spoilt our experience. The staff also seem harassed, confused and unsupervised most of the time. On checking out, we found the administration in reception to not be that efficient. We paid our deposit in September and paid the balance a week before our arrival. On checking out, the reception staff asked us to pay the balance of our accommodation again! It seems that the processes in place are not that efficient and again, staff seemed confused.

Disappointing

My friend and I spent a night here and when we first arrived, after seeing the resort we wished we had booked a longer stay. However, this changed when we arrived early at our hotel and they made us wait until 2pm before we could check in and literally not one minute before. This was understandable until we got into our room and found out our beds were still not made. We also decided to eat lunch at the hotel which took a very long time despite the fact that the restaurant was rather empty. We also only had a choice between pizza and the 'kiddies menu' as they had run out of other food. When we finally settled into our room we discovered that the mugs and glasses in the room smelled absolutely awful (like damp and mould). We also found out that we could not lock the door from the outside. My friend and I decided to go try our luck again and have dinner at the hotel restaurant . We ordered a simple meal of grilled hake and chips, however, we were served battered hake and peppers... By this time we had waited over an hour, so trying to change the food was not something we were willing to wait longer for. We even witnessed a couple on a fully inclusive meal package get turned away as the restaurant had run out of food. After a long disappointing day we decided to settle into bed for some well needed rest. Our room was located right by the swimming pool and we listened to a group of teenagers shouting and laughing until about 11:30pm.
