Great location with a rustic vibe
My sons and I spent 5 nights in this spacious cabin in the woods. It was a great spot for visiting surrounding Civil War locations and the local towns. Being in the woods and so close to Antietam Creek made the experiences even more memorable. Access and communications were timely and easy. Really a great choice!

Birthday Getaway
We had a wonderful stay at Lisa's property. The property was well stocked and although no air conditioning, with the pool and in the canopy of the trees, it was very much bearable. My favorite aspect was definitely the creek and getting to unwind peacefully. The place could use a good deep cleansing but you're camping, so for me it was kind of expected.

Great Visit to Antietam and Harpers Ferry
The Antietam Creek cabin was a great base for our visits to Antietam Battlefield and Harpers Ferry. Check-in was easy with the lock box on the door. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed. The pool was cool and refreshing. The cabin does not have air conditioning, but there are plenty of fans to keep the air moving.

No river swimming
From the pictures on VRBO it looks like you can just walk to the river and get in but you can't it was so over grown that was impossible. If you were to kayak (of which we planned on doing) I'm not sure how far past the property you would have to go to get out. Needless to say we didn't kayak. We still had a nice week

Peaceful Retreat
My husband and teenage son wanted to get away from it all for the weekend and we couldn't have picked a better place to do it. The cabin was perfect. We never missed not having a TV and with all the canopy cover, the heat was not an issue. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wished we had arranged a longer visit. Next time! The host was friendly, respectful and so accommodating.

Disappointed cabin experience.
Good location, good structure, not clean, good bit of bugs inside residence which was unexpected due to the price paid for the property. Wouldn’t stay here again.

We were extremely happy with our stay. The perfect get away! And the fact that everything is supplied for you--all you have to do is bring your clothes! We were amazed at the size of the cabin. Very roomy.

Gorgeous Location
The front room of the cabin overlooks the woods. The view is stunning. It was beautiful in August. I can only imagine how gorgeous the fall colors must be. We will have to plan another trip.

Pure Quiet Escape
This property is a great little escape from the hustle and bustle of the suburbs/city. Trees surround this property and it is like a stilted tree house. It was in the high 80’s and low 90’s and it was rather cool with windows open and fans running. At night, was even a little chilly (which was surprising) and needed a blanket or two! House had all the amenities needed. Things are a little basic like the shower and could see some updating, but you do get what you pay for with this property. The only downside is that the pool isn’t heated and no lights at night (we rectified this by buying two camping rechargeable lanterns). I know heating can cost a lot to run, but would be happy paying an additional $100-$150 for the trip. Nonetheless, it was a great vacation. We did the battlefield, the Crystal Grotto caves and three days of tubing. First day, we started at the Keedysville (Hitt) bridge and did a little float to the house. Second day, we started at the bridge in Devils Backbone County Park, that tube float was around 6 1/2 hours to the house. Third trip, we dropped in at the house and went down to a nice 4 hour float. Saw a waterfall and floated on to Molly’s Hole at the park. Uber was our friend. We’d be picked up and just driven back to the house. We purchased xl River tubes via Dick’s at $26 each and purchased a pump. Much cheaper than renting through a company. Also, checked out the waterfall at Falling Waters in West Virginia. We bbq’d saw a ton of wildlife, from fish, to katydids, to many varieties of butterflies, saw two baby deer on the path of the property, a groundhog, snake, rabbits, turtle, even a weasel! Kiddos loved the adventure and the house. House was well stocked with tons of herbs and spices, to great cookware and cutlery. Only regret, was not going to Annapolis Rock! Did venture into Sharpsburg and the Blue Moon Cafe! Thanks for a great vacation, Lisa!

Girls’ Night
We had a great time! We utilized the pool and the trail to the creek and the fire pit. We were able to check in early with easy communication with the owner. The cabin itself was so homey and loved the vibe! It was perfect for our mom/wives getaway!

Great little cabin getaway
Great place in semi-remote area but also just 10 minutes outside of town in case you need anything! Nice walk down to the river, very quiet, and the birds in the morning are peaceful and unique. Great experience and part of our adventure to the area. Thank you!

Perfect location
Couldn't have asked for a better location. Cabin in lovely setting but musty and only surface clean. Nice pool area but closed for the season. Enjoyed fire pit.

Quiet and lots of beautiful light
My partner and I wanted to escape dc for a day. This cabin was perfect, we loved the pool and fire pit, we walked down to the creek and enjoyed the peace and quiet there. The house has everything you could need for cooking. Really loved the room with all of the windows. Some of the reviews said that room was dark at night but lamps have since been added because we didn’t have any issues with light. Would love to come back. Thanks for a restful night away!

Charming and quirky cabin
Very peaceful. The cabin is on a sizeable wooded and hilly property that is fairly isolated. The surrounding trees keep the cabin relatively cool but also dark. When you enter the house, you're met by a huge bookshelf lined with books and board games. The children's selection of books is fabulous. Similarly, the kitchen pantry is fairly stocked. The pool's water level is about 4.5 feet; in July it was quite cold but still fun (Lisa has stocked it with a number of pool toys). The area has lots of outdoor and historical-related activities but you could just as easily spend all of the time reading good books and writing at the cabin. We heard a pair of barred owls each evening and wood thrushes every morning. The upright piano was fun, too. The cabin could benefit from better lighting, fixing existing lights, fixing small things here and there (water drip from kitchen faucet, new caulking in bathroom, replacing chairs with rips, a few more microwave and heat safe dinner plates, more guest use of storage and shelf space in bedrooms), and a deep cleaning (common during peak season). It's charming and quirky and we had a fun time. Lisa went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable.

Cabin with an oasis
We spent a long weekend at the cabin and had a great time. We actually never even left except to get ice cream one evening! The pool is an absolute oasis. It has a cover and a vacuum system so it keeps sparkling clean even though it's in the woods. The pool area also has lots of shade throughout the day. We loved it. The cabin has a bookshelf full of books and games, which is very nice. We spent our days by the pool and evenings playing games. It was in the 90s while we were there and the cabin was quite warm in the evenings. We moved the table and chairs to the sunroom under the fan and that made it bearable. The bedrooms have fans so we had no issues sleeping. The creek is deeper along the property and does not have great access for the kids to play. In hindsight I really wish we would have brought heavy duty tubes and followed the property owner's directions on dropping in down the road and floating back to the property so we would have made use of the Creek. I have Verizon and had little to no cell service and no wifi but my husband has AT&T on his work phone and had no issues. Vesta Pizza nearby delivers and has great food and you can order online.

Great stay.
We had a really nice stay at Lisa’s cabin. The kids loved the pool and we had fun playing board games during a thunderstorm. It’s charm is in its rustic heart. But it’s quirkiest features are not rustic at all — like the once-futuristic shower and jet tub and the modern dining chairs. We we needed a little more light in the dining area and we wished the front room was set up more to hang out in—it’s really a gorgeous room, but we hardly spent any time there bc we would have had to sit on the floor. One thing I wished I’d known is that the river is not that close to the house. I was excited to have my kids explore the river while I watched them from the house, but it was a bit if a trek to the river and I wouldn’t let my 9 and 7 year olds go down there in their own. Also, if you have mold sensitivities, this is not the house for you (at least in the wet seasons). I had many questions for Lisa both before and during our stay and she always responded quickly and kindly.

Pleasant retreat
We enjoyed our stay particularly the back room with windows. The lighting in the cabin was a little peculiar; however, the woods and creek below more than made up for the lighting struggle.

Lovely grounds, convenient location
We had a nice weekend at the cabin. The location is beautiful with lots of bird watching out the sun room windows. The piano was in tune and a great extra! We enjoyed fishing and hiking nearby Appalachian Trail. The cabin was quite clean in terms of surface cleaning, covid-concerns, bedding and linens, etc. The cabin could definitely have used a deeper clean in terms of cobwebs, etc and updating, living room furniture was worn. The beds were very comfortable and the whole cabin was homey and comfortable. Nice supplied games, books and toys. There isn’t central heat in the cabin, which we were unprepared for. There’s a lovely gas insert stove in the living area that works well and there were 3-4 space heaters. (The kitchen baseboard heat was not working when we were there.) It was cold overnight when we had these off, though the warm bedding was excellent. When coming back to the cabin in winter months expect to have to turn on the stove and heaters and give the cabin time to warm up. I agree with other suggestions to bring slippers and flashlights/headlamps. All in all we would stay again but weren’t expecting the heat issue. It was cold the weekend we stayed, down to 26 the first night.

The perfect getaway
My fiancé and I were looking for a quick getaway to restore the balance of life. WHAT A TREASURE! We were able to achieve just that with the comfort of any resource just a 15 minute drive away. The other half is already trying to plan our next visit to the cabin!

Just what I needed
I was looking for a quiet place to just do some quiet work and take in nature, and this place fit the bill perfectly. It sits on top of a hill that looks down on Antietam Creek, so you get the benefit of both a very cool view and the feeling of being up in the trees (which was great for watching birds, btw). Just a short walk down the hill and you're at the creek; at sunrise, it was pretty magical, with steam coming off it and deer running around behind it. The place itself is just as advertised. Everything was clean and ready upon arrival. The bed in one of the rooms (it was just me) was really comfortable, the kitchen was well-stocked, and I was able to take advantage of the piano. Another plus was location -- just a few minutes drive to the Antietam battleground, and 20 minutes-ish to Harper's Ferry. Perfect place for what I was looking for.

Lovely spot!
We had a lovely time at the cabin. It was peaceful, warm, and had a very well stocked kitchen. We could only see trees and one other house. The owner was very helpful and quick to reply, both leading up to our stay and while we were there. I enjoyed reading the cookbooks on hand and our toddler enjoyed new (to her) games and toys.

Lovely cabin in the woods with well equipped kitchen and pool
We came for a winter visit and enjoyed snowy scenes, the cozy living room and the gourmet kitchen. Beds were good, but on the soft side for us. The linens were adequate, but not fancy. Definitely had that authentic log cabin feel, with modern amenities. Lisa was super helpful. We would definitely come back.

Scenic Area
Easy access to owner. Nice deck with picnic table. Close to Shepherdstown, Cunningham Falls State Park and Antietam National Battlefield. Suggestion: if you plan to read in the evening, bring bright lightbulb. The yoga room is sunny during the day and looks out into the trees.
