"We got to the house right as hurricane Hone was approaching the island and loved watching the waves from the safety of the home. We were able to see turtles and dolphins from the living room! Also very quiet and relaxed neighborhood. Note that the closest beach access is 40 min away in Hilo."

"Very quiet neighborhood North of Hilo. You have to drive to get to anything, but this is a nice house that is decorated well and has everything you need. Very comfortable even without AC. It does get buggy, which is normal for the area. I also liked being in a house, but not feeling like I was staying IN someone’s home."

We felt like we experienced the true Hawaiian vibe there. "I feel spoiled to have stayed in this house. It’s situated on immaculate grounds, about 20 min north of Hilo. There was plenty of space for my family of 5 (kids 13, 11 and 6). We really enjoyed viewing stars, the close proximity to Akaka Falls, and the lush front yard area. House is nicely appointed, had everything we could have need and was a lovely getaway!"

Have to say we really enjoyed our time in Hilo and up the north coast - simply beautiful. The Cozy Retreat Guest House was a good home base for our site seeing trips and offered a comfortable place to wind down and relax at the end of the day. Location wise, we were further from downtown Hilo then we'd like, so...
