This was the worst hotel during our stay in Taiwan. Mind you, it was also the most expensive hotel we booked across the trip (we stayed in Taipei, Taichung, and Tainan)—even more expensive than the 4-star hotel in Tainan.
For that reason, we expected at least a decent place to stay, so the reality came as a shock. It turns out only the lobby has been renovated and looks passable. The room itself felt very old, with old furniture and visible mould around the bathroom.
We were asked to do self check-in and check-out, which I found quite redundant. The staff didn’t appear busy, and more importantly, we couldn’t even check in ourselves because we arrived before 4pm. This was the only place that required a check-in time after 4pm—not sure if it’s due to being short-staffed. Imagine paying that much and still having to check in late and do it yourself.
What really surprised me was that the room had no window. We essentially paid 4-star prices for a windowless room with no soundproofing. There was also a bathtub in the room, which felt quite random, especially since no bath salts were provided.
The mattress felt sunken and of poor quality—in contrast, all the other cheaper hotels we stayed in had comfortable beds.
Overall, this was an extremely poor experience. I still find it hard to accept that the hotel had the audacity to charge so much for a mouldy, noisy, windowless room.
