Elk Country Lodge is truly a nice property. With nice rooms, attentive staff, and good location. Overall, very pleasant.
But the breakfast experience was ...ugh. The dining room was crowded, disorganized, and chaotic. Which we can sort of forgive if the hotel is fully occupied, I guess... But the awkward placement of the food was very cramped and crowded, and the constant bumping into others was very frustrating, nonetheless.
But the real problem was the food itself. The powdered egg "omelet blobs" were simply inedible. They were soggy wet, and utterly tasteless. (Worse than any airline meal ever.) Same with the "bacon" and "sausage". Whatever they really were, they were in tightly closed steamer pans, and absolutely soaked with steam water. We took one bite of each, and bailed out. We settled for the dry cereal and milk.
And even though the price of the breakfast was included in our room rate, we went out to eat breakfast the next day.
