The Empress Zoe is a Turkish hotel not an americanized lodge. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The garden breakfast is great. Its location in the Sultanamet is terrific-- just minutes from Hagia Sofia, the Blue Mosque, Topkapi palace and the cistern. Second time I have stayed there. Love it. One word of wording though, the hotel has 4 or 5 stories and no elevator. While the helpful staff will take your bags up and down, you must climb a wonder spiral staircase. I would not have it any other way but for those who do not like stairs, this is not your hotel.

The hotel was exceptional and close to all of the sites. The room and courtyard was like an oasis in the middle of the bustling tourist area. The staff was always friendly and very helpful. One the best stays in our vacation history.

Empress Zoe. Stayed 1 week. Area is great. Locals are great. Walkable to everywhere. Airport pickup and drop off was arranged by the hotel for 55 euros. But upon my checkout I did not have 55 Euros only Turkish Lira. The front desk said it was fine and took 1800 in Turkish Lira which is double the amount. When I asked for the receipt the front desk lady told me she doesn't have one. It felt dishonest and I left the hotel feeling cheated. I also had other uncomfortable experiences at the hotel, would not stay there again but definitely would go back to Istanbul and visit the city again.

Our guest is all informed about airport transfer cost by confirmation email which is 55 euros one way and 100 euros round trip and also second time when we confirm their transfer. As you booked both ways of airport transfer, we charged 100 euros which is equivalent of 1.800 TRY. Please check your confirmation where it’s says “If you would like to be picked up both for your arrival and departure, the cost of round-trip transfer is 100 euros, instead of 110.” Regarding the receipt, as we explained during the check out, you choose to make your payment to Expedia directly, as this reservation was not hotel collect, we are not authorized to write a receipt, you can request the receipt directly from Expedia. Regarding uncomfortable experience, please note we will not tolerate guest coming drunk and being overly loud at 2 am in the morning insulting our staff and disturbing our other guests. You were told if this continues, we would have to ask you to leave which you apologized from our staff that night. This is all recorded on our camera. Any guest who causes a disturbance, or refuses to follow the policies and guidelines set before them, will be warned ONCE. Should the situation persist, the GUEST WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE THE HOTEL. If the guest does not comply, we would have to call the local authorities like any other hotel would. This is a very reputable boutique hotel and our duty to enforce quiet hours so that all guests can enjoy a restful night. We wish you a lovely stay in Istanbul in the future.

The room was incredible. It was super cozy and had windows that opened. The mattress was the best! Breakfast was available with seating in the courtyard. The hotel staff were very helpful. I needed help confirming a flight change and they called and handled it for me. The location is good, but there are a lot of restaurant hawkers that will pester you on your way to the sights. The rooms aren't handicap accessible... actually, the whole street isn't handicap-friendly (not the hotel's fault). The rooms are very quiet, but there's a minaret outside that announces prayer that can be annoying to some people.

The Hotel Zoe is located right in the heart of historic Sultanahmet Istanbul. In fact the remains of a 700 year old bath house is located right next door and its less than a five minute walk from the hotel to the Blue Mosque. The hotel is brimming with character. The rooms are spotless and the staff was extremely friendly and welcoming.

We had an amazing stay at the Hotel Empress Zoe. Great location with comfortable and unique rooms. The staff from the front desk to the cafe were extremely friendly and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Would highly recommend this hotel.

We loved our stay at Hotel Empress Zoe! Everyone was extremely friendly and the hotel itself is so charming. They made it easy to get to and from the airport and even arranged for a covid test at the hotel. Have a glass of wine by the fireplace at night, and definitely don't sleep on the breakfast, it's delicious! We'll be staying here the next time we're in Istanbul.

Good stay but too small
Cozy and nice place, but sadly too small and narrow, stairs are impossible with any luggage, you feel like workers are stalking you all times and standing and watching you since the place is smaller. Breakfast is ok for that touristic area.

Delightful, characterful, excellent location
We stayed twice - the first time had a small but cosy garden view room with a balcony- most atmospheric sitting on balcony listening to ships' fog horns. The second time we took a lovely family room - despite being on the street side it was quiet (November). Tasty fresh breakfast. Covid 'regs' well implemented when we were there. Plenty of guidebooks and reading matter in reception, helpful staff.

The hotel is in a great neighborhood close to historic attractions. The staff was very nice and helpful. A delicious breakfast was provided daily and the rooms were really comfortable. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel.

I loved this cute little boutique hotel so much!!! The staff and reception were friendly and very attentive. I had a great time staying here. I loved the breakfast and centralized location to all the historical monuments. Easy walking distance to the highlights of Istanbul. BUT… my absolute favorite part of the hotel were their resident cats. I love love love Bobbie and chunky Sophie. I was sad to say bye to them. I picked this hotel because of them and I would return and stay here again because of the cats.

This hotel is very great! From arranging rides prior to my visit to check out, they were nothing but helpful. Cenk (desk receptionist) was helpful and was a great guide to consult. The breakfast offered was small but enough. They have very few rooms which makes it feel nicer! It is also very close to the Hagia Sophia and tram stations!

Very unique hotel! Great breakfastast, very clean rooms, loved Bobo and Sophie the cats and loved the efforts to support the environment. Pick up and drop off arrangements to the airport not so great.

Elegant but overly simplistic
One should be aware that he/she should not expect all levels of confort by chosing this atypical hotel: no elevator, no tea/coffee machine in the rooms, rather simple.breakfast. However it does allow to plunge into another era especially through the beautiful antique furniture and the decoration making the accomodation itself to be part of the touristic journey. Everything is clean. The personnel is helpful yet far from overly cheerful.

Great service and location in a tight space
Great service and nice hosts. Very clean and well maintained. Close to the major sites: Top Kapi, Hagia Sophia, Sultan Ahmet etc. Very small standard room; narrow vertical spiral staircase leading from the front desk / entrance to the rooms. Beautiful garden on the dining room level, but of little benefit in the winter time. No TV nor radio in the room, but excellent WiFi

Brilliant hotel - highly recommended! Will be back
Great location for walking round the historic cultural centre of Istanbul, across to Galata and transport options beyond. Absolutely amazing boutique hotel with a unique shady, private garden for evenings over a g+t and breakfasts too. Buffet breakfast delicious, with freshly baked pastries, wide range of cheeses, fruit and some cooked dishes too. Staff were unfailingly friendly and helpful, giving recommendations for eating out locally and in Galata beyond the tourist trail. The hotel arranged a private taxi from the airport and back too. Couldn't give a higher recommendation!

Spectacular stay
The Sultanhamet location was in the heart of the city’s history, it was an immediate immersion in the story of Istanbul. The walled garden where we had breakfast and drinks was a delight. The staff were both attentive and discreet. Altogether the hotel was much more than a base for the Istanbul experience, it was an important part of the experience itself.
