"This could be an amazing place to stay. The grounds are impeccably maintained and beautiful. Unfortunately, our room smelled musty and of tobacco smoke. We couldn't believe what we were walking into! We arrived late, otherwise we would have left immediately. My wife awoke in the middle of the night nauseated from the smell. The deck restaurant was understaffed and the food unimpressive. Deferred maintenance issues were apparent with the buildings."

"For the price of the room, I expected better. It felt a bit dingy, and the gentleman at reception was a bit pushy about ordering dinner. The room itself was outdated and there were mold stains on the shower door. The shower leaked out into the bedroom and left the carpet sopping wet. We let them know, but they knew about it. "This was our 3rd visit to Holly Tree. The room and facilities were spotless.
We have always been impressed by the high standard of the bathroom fittings and separate bath and shower.
Staff were helpful ,courteous and attentive.Food again was excellent and most enjoyable i.e.dinner ,especially enhanced by the wonderful view of the loch. Breakfast was good though fresh fruit was limited-- a minor detail !!
