"I was given room 3 which was average and definitely not like the advertised photos or reviews, there was not hot water which happens, I was then given an 'up grade' to an upstairs room where the shower head was broken and the electric shower when set at medium went from cold to burning on its own, clearly faulty. Bed was very comfortable but the room was dated. Unable to offer comment on the breakfast as I had to leave before it started, 8am is quite late for midweek."

"The hotel is fabulous, the staff are incredibly friendly and the rooms are clean and luxurious. The only thing that could be improved is to fit air conditioning in the rooms. At night the room became quite stuffy and it's not possible to open patio doors at night. Apart from that - amazing"

"We booked a superior double room, which is in theaon building. It was very tatty and in need of painting and updating. Very dated with a lack of plugs near the bed, none near the dressing table to plug in the hairdryer. One usb port. Dirty window dressings. A really old, dirty and damaged devine base. Breakfast was ok at best, not much choice and the mini chocolate muffins were dry or stale. The coffee was absolutely dreadful. The hash browns were oily and also not crisp because they had sweated...

"The staff at The Bear Inn are terrific: it’s a family-run business and nothing was too much trouble. You soon will get to know everyone’s name a they will remember yours; it’s the little things that set a small country Inn apart from the bigger and soulless enterprises. Check-in was easy and, although we originally planned to stay for a couple of days, we were made so welcome, decided to stay for two more. "The staff and the breakfast were amazing however the rooms have no shampoo (body wash is not going to do it for me), no lotion, no tissues and no phone. No phone makes it extremely difficult for overseas visitors to contact reception. Even the charming lady on reception who confirmed that these amenities were not offered in the hotel states that they were a budget hotel ‘but maybe not - we are quite expensive’. "
