Fern Valley--the Perfect Spot in Idyllwild Any Time of Year

In the beautiful Fern Valley area of Idyllwild, the home is bright, sunny and open, and the perfect mountain getaway for a group of friends, one or two couples, or a couple with children.

Built in 2002, the home has all the modern conveniences (forced air heating, air conditioning, gas fireplace, microwave, dishwasher, electric stove and oven) and every comfort you'd want in that getaway weekend. Everything is on the first floor (there is a loft above the kitchen but nothing is up there) and the two bedrooms have queen beds and their own bathrooms with showers. There is a washer/dryer as well. The bedrooms and living room are carpeted for cozy warmth, and the kitchen, bathtooms, dining area and hallways are tiled. The huge deck has a table and chairs and is the perfect place to sit out and watch the wildlife and incredible sunsets.

The road to the home as well as the driveway are wide and well-maintained. It's only 1.4 miles to the center of town, and even less to many beautiful hiking trails, from easy to moderate to strenuous levels of difficulty. We even discovered the home is about 75 yards from the popular and easy Ernie Maxwell Trail, which also runs to and from Humber Park.

When we come up to Idyllwild we find our weekends last very long as time does seem to go slower when we're relaxing and simply enjoying the beauty of the area.

Check-in time is 4:00 p.m. and check-out time is 11:00 a.m. For earlier or later times please ask me and we try to accommodate but it depends on the previous and next guests and the housekeeping schedule. For groups with more than four adults (ages 10 and over) a charge of $30 per night per extra guest will be charged (maximum five guests). Quiet hours are 10:00 p.m.to 7:00 a.m. We asks that if you have more than two bags of trash you make a trip to the dump: Idyllwild Transfer Center at 28100 Saunders Meadow Rd., Idyllwild. Posted hours are M-Th: 7:30-5:30, F: 7:30-4:30, closed Saturday, Sunday and holidays (but we always find them open on Sundays, so go figure).

Beautiful home in quiet neighborhood

This is a beautiful home set on the hillside amongst the trees. All amenities and conveniences are there to make your stay so enjoyable! The deck is perfect for relaxing with your coffee while feeding peanuts to the squirrels romping and chasing each other. It was perfect!! A truly beautiful home in a beautiful mountain community.

Better than expected

What a wonderful place! The whole house was very clean and well maintained and felt like a real home rather than a vacation rental.Everything to cook meals was available and the WiFi was fast and reliable.Sitting on the deck was the real highlight. It was very quiet and peaceful and felt like sitting in a tree house. If you go in the summer definitely bring bug spray, because the mosquitoes were no joke.Location was perfect to go into town. Everything was less than a 10 minute drive away.

Peaceful Cabin

We love the place. Very close to a trail. The road was easy to navigate. Close to the downtown area. The living space was perfect to the four of us and our pet. We hope to return in the future.

Exceeded Expectations

"Sunset Getaway" was a wonderful place to escape from the bustle of "High-Season" in the desert. We enjoyed the cold, fresh, pine-scented air and the solitude of being off the beaten path. The house is beautiful and extremely well-built. It was immaculately clean and very well-provisioned with all we needed for a 3-night stay. The owner/manager couldn't have been more welcoming and responsive.We look forward to returning for a much longer stay. We heartily recommend "Sunset Getaway" without hesitation.

This property is spectacular! We were blessed to have chosen ahead of time and didn't realize there would be lots of snow. The place had a great vibe and everything supplied that you needed! The best of all was Suzanne the Host She was very communicative and responded immediately! We really appreciate her having this space. We will be back for sure! We brought our Siberian Huskies they loved it just as much as we did;) Thank you so much! Definitely book it! You will not be disappointed! it inow our favorite place in Idyllwild

A wonderful getaway

We loved our time in this wonderful cabin. It was the cozy, comforting, quiet and exactly what we were hoping for! We also loved the convenience of hiking trails right close by, and our animals loved the place too! Our host was very responsive and welcoming. Wonderful Rental

Fern Valley was the perfect spot for my husband and I and another couple to spend a long weekend! It is in a beautiful location a mile from town. Though there are neighbors, it felt secluded and peaceful. We enjoyed the view from the deck! The layout of the cabin is perfect, with a bedroom and bathroom on either side of the kitchen. The cabin was clean and well stocked. We were very comfortable! I had a fair amount of positive interaction with the property manager, Suzanne. She answered all of my questions and made recommendations. We communicated by text and email. She always responded quickly! We enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this property!

Idyllwild Getaway

My wife and I enjoyed our time at this lovely cabin. This cabin has become our ā€œgo toā€ when weā€™re in Idyllwild. I think this was our 4th visit and it never disappoints. The cabin is clean and cozy and beautifully decorated. Itā€™s located in a a wonderful area with plenty of privacy yet close to town. Suzanne, the host, is the best!!!!

Everything about our stay was beyond wonderful. The cabin is located close to town and nice hiking trails. Everything in the cabin was exactly as was described in the VRBO listing. Communicating with the owner was effortless. We could not have had a nicer stay and look forward to our next visit with fingers crossed that this cabin will be available again. Fantastic!!

Wow! We were so impressed with this property and the location. We are frequent visitors to Idyllwild, but this was our first time staying in the Fern Valley area. Both the home and the surrounding area were so beautiful that we couldn't leave -- luckily the property was available so we extended our stay, and can't wait to return! The home is spotless, and so well equipped! We felt right at home immediately! And communication with the host was stellar! The home is perfect for a couple or a family of 4 or 5. Two very comfortable bedrooms, each with a bathroom, and a large "great room", encompassing the kitchen, dining area and living area. The outdoor wrap around deck was where we spent so much of our time! The beauty and solitude of the surroundings was exactly what we needed to kick off the holiday season! We have already recommended this property to friends. Try it -- you will not be disappointed!

Hideaway in Idyllwild

Four of us stayed at the Fern Valley cabin. The facilities were immaculate and well maintained. The squirrels, chipmunks and jays were entertaining on the deck. It was so quiet and peaceful, we quickly decompressed from our daily routine. Love this place!
