"We asked for a late check out and even though the hotel was absolutely empty - (we were the only two people at breakfast in a room that could seat 100) the hotel still denied a late checkout (personally I think 11am checkout is too early) so we were charged an extra £20 for a 12pm checkout. "Comfy room, generous towels. Arrived late Friday evening, no bother getting a table in the pub downstairs for food- they don't take table reservations, so I wasn't at a disadvantage. Good wide choice on the menu and attentive service. There was a nightwatchman for after hours- what a treasure! He showed me how to access once the pub was closed, helped me empty the bags from the car and carried them to our room all with a friendly, nothing was too much trouble approach. "Never stay again over priced Low Quality And not free parking as last 10 years"

"On arrival could have done with better signage as to where to park as we ended up parking at Forbidden Corner. Also not easy to find Reception and when we did find there was no-one there for 10 mins. Room nice, dressing gown and slippers nice touch. Had evening meal in the bar which was ok and staff were attentive. Meals on the Sunday finished at 5 and bar closed which was inconvenient. We were informed no staff on site again until Wed. "The inn was okay and the staff were nice. Couldn’t sleep though which is the point of a hotel. Had a road facing room and could hear every single car as it sped by. Torture. The shower was also maybe the worst I’ve had in the last 5 years of constant travel. Felt like someone held a pinched hose over me and there was no water pressure at off peak shower times. "

"Although it was just a one night stay for me I received a very warm welcome, shown to my room and all staff; reception, bar and restaurant were first class in their roles. Room was clean and tidy and bed very comfy. Good selection of food and cooked breakfast to order."

"The food was excellent and the potions enormous. It was rather remote so you needed a car to visit Durham. The park and ride (Belmont) was excellent but you will need sat nav to find it.Uber was £19 to Durham. Most of the staff very friendly a couple not so but didn’t spoil our stay"

"Staff don’t seem to be around at any time. Bed is quite poor. If anyone is staying in the room above you, it may sound like they are about to come through the floor. Bags of linen in the hallway all the time next to the room not just when they are cleaning. Door feels very flimsy and like anyone could walk in at anytime. Wouldn’t recommend for anyone looking for a nice weekend away but if you have a wedding near by it will do as a place to sleep."

"We stayed for one night as a stopover on the way North and were very happy that we picked this Inn. The room was quite basic but perfectly adequate for our needs and in line with the price point. We had an evening meal in the bar area which was very good with generous portions and we were served by a lovely young lady who was very friendly and helpful. The cooked breakfast was nothing short of excellent with good quality ingredients, perfectly prepared."
