We canā€™t say enough about how nice our stay was. The pictures donā€™t do this cabin justice itā€™s a fantastic place to stay and a great area thatā€™s tucked away but only a few minutes to nearby towns. Iā€™m from the area and wasnā€™t familiar with this part of the area. Itā€™s very beautiful and did not disappoint. We look forward to returning to the cabin in the future.

Charming Cabin

Such a sweet well-appointed cabin. Itā€™s tucked into a hilly, woodside lot, and feels like a camp from yesteryear. Everything you need is here, plus extras! Comfy little retreat! Loved the porch for morning coffee, reading and movies at night! Each room is uniquely decorated!

Perfection

Great cabin in the woods

We loved the rustic cabin. Not far from the lake. Serene and peaceful. The fire pit in the back yard is nice for family bbqs and sā€™mores. Lake is so fun to swim and paddle out in the boats.

Graduation Weekend!

We were in town for our daughterā€™s graduation and loved Michelleā€™s cottage. The house was just right for our family, sharing dinners and celebrating our graduate. The bedding in the house was great, comfy and soft. Lots of cute spaces and well equipped house! Michelle was a great communicator and was available if we had any questions. We loved our stay.

Cozy and delightful lake cabin

This lovely little lake cabin was clean and cozy, and suited my family very well. It was fun and eclectic in its decoration and well-stocked with a good variety of useful things, including plenty to keep the kids entertained (they made the trampoline their own little kingdom =). The location and boating on the lake were the stars of the show, though. We loved it! The host, Michelle, was very kind and gave lots of good information. We had a wonderful time, and would definitely stay here again in the future.

4th of July Vacation

We booked this cottage for a quick 4th of July getaway. The cottage had everything we needed for our stay. We grilled every night on the charcoal grill, we brought our own charcoal, I donā€™t believe it is provided. We also enjoyed smores at the fire pit. Plenty of towels and sheets available which was convenient. The lake is about a 15 min walk down the hill, great dock with a bunch of toys and shaded areas to sit. The walk back up the hill isnā€™t as intimidating as it seems. We also drove down and found a pull off area on the right side of the road before the dock. Also enjoyed the DVD selection and games when it rained. Definitely would stay again!

Great place but a bit of a hike to the lake

We really enjoyed this well-appointed spacious cottage. Michelle was generous and responsive and we had a wonderful time. We were meeting for a family reunion and hosted a BBQ for 20-30 people at the cottage one evening. There was plenty of room outside; the grill, picnic table, and fire pit were perfect, with plenty of seating and the trampoline and horseshoes were great for the kids. What would have made the cottage absolutely perfect would have been easier lake access. The dock and boats and float make it easy to enjoy the lake, but they are down the road and hill a ways so you have to plan the trip. Parking is a bit tricky and we found it easier to walk, but it takes about 15 min each way and the hill on the way back will meet your cardio workout requirements. All in all, though, we really enjoyed our stay and wished we could have stayed longer!

Charming cabin

We had a wonderful time in this cozy rustic getaway. Our day trips around Massachusetts were topped off by peaceful evenings in the cabin warmed by the fire. This is a charming cabin. We hated to leave.

Best Vacation Ever

The cabin is everything you need for a perfect vacation. There is plenty of room, breathtaking views, fun activities, and thoughtful touches left by the owner. It was a bit too cool to play in the lake but we loved the walk to the lake and the views.

Beautiful sunset the first evening. Loved the lake during the day and the fireplace and firepit at night. We loved the sounds of the birds and animals in the woods. 2 deer crossed my path on my morning walk. Very well equipped kitchen. Very relaxing and always something to do. Thank you!

Nothing like August in the Berkshire hills...

Such a nice location and a well appointed cabin..old style with lots of chairs, couches, beds, etc. Beautiful view of mountain range at sunset (cabin is not on or facing lake), cool breezes on hot days. Lake access is a short drive with tight parking along lakeside road. Nice dock area, could use a handrail for old folks like us. What a great family lake!

Great cabin, great location

This is a wonderful property. The historic structure is filled with vintage decorations and mementos. There also are all the comforts of home, including a well-appointed kitchen, comfortable lounging areas, and great outdoor space. Our group of old friends enjoyed a welcome long weekend together, especially sitting around the firepit and down on the dock. You will make some great new memories of your own.

Charming cabin

Had a relaxing family getaway with our son and his dog at this lovely cabin in the woods. Everything we needed was there, and more. We love to hike, so this location was perfect, near many trustee lands and state park trails -- but also close enough to nearby towns so that we could shop, visit the local farmer's markets, etc. The owner's instructions were excellent, and she was very helpful when one question arose. The cabin was a great place for our family to relax and re-unite after 1.5 years apart during the pandemic.

Quiet escape

Loved spending time here. We went to work and escape NYC for a couple of weeks and enjoyed the peace and quiet. Norwich Lake is beautiful. Michelleā€™s instructions about the house were spot on. And the kitchen was well stocked with everything you might need.

Charming weekend

My friends and I had a wonderful stay in this lakeside cabin. The interior was very quaint, with a lot of personality and the personal touch of a family retreat. There are lots of things to do on the property including horseshoes, games, and a firepit. The lakeside dock had a nice seating area and well kept canoes and boats which we had a lot of fun rowing around the lake. The water was very clean and full of small fish. The owner was also very communicative, she send detailed instructions and was responsive over the course of the weekend. We appreciated being allowed to stay past the 11:00 check out time so we could enjoy more of the day. We would chose to stay here again!

Fantastic

It was hard to leave! The beds were SO comfortable! My 10 year old spent most of her time on the trampoline. The dock is amazing. We swam, fished and relaxed. Michelle was wonderful and incredibly helpful. We were planning our trip back before we left :)

unbelievably charming

We fell in love with Michelle's cabin pretty much upon arrival. It was even more charming than shown in the photos. All the beds were comfortable. The kitchen was probably the best outfitted rental kitchen I've ever used--I usually bring my cast-iron pan and one good sharp knife, but I could've skipped it this time. The kids were very into the fire pit and the trampoline, and we were close enough that while I'm sure the neighbors heard them bouncing and yelling, we had enough space I don't think they truly bothered anyone. The dock was a good walk--not so bad to get there, but a little steep on the way back--but a nice walk nonetheless because of all the shade, even on a hot day. The dock itself is in great shape and we especially enjoyed using the paddleboat. My only issue--and really it isn't the property's fault!--is that because our car is fairly low-slung, we couldn't get up the driveway without scraping on a large rock near the top. We solved that by just parking lower on the driveway. I don't think it would apply to most cars, but forewarned is forearmed (and Michelle did warn me to look out for it). We would love to stay here again and I would heartily recommend it!

A perfect getaway

Our family spent a wonderful week at this very special cabin in the woods near a pristine lake. A perfect getaway for all three generations, there was so much to enjoy. The youngest (18 months) loved collecting acorns, nature walks, swimming and swinging - so did the rest of us! The quiet tranquil setting with pure fresh air, refreshing lake and gentle boat rides was a wonderful escape from the noise and heatwaves of our urban life. Michelle is terrific and you can sense the love that she and her family give to the cabin. I especially loved the quilts, embroidery and historical maps - It was like being in a very liveable "please touch" piece of history. As a tornado watch developed and power was lost, the cabin became even more magical by candlelight! We hope to return next summer and make this a family tradition.

A much needed getaway!

We are just back from a wonderful week at this cottage. After such a looonnng 2020 we were ready for some close-by travel! The cottage is quirky and fun. It is the kind of place where you continue to discover and notice new things throughout the week. Despite being there during a heat wave, the cottage stayed plenty cool, due to the wooded lot and the many fans. We had plenty of space for our family ( mom, dad, and 2 boys), and we used the great enclosed front porch a ton. The kitchen is totally stocked with every pot or tool you could want, and the towels are fluffy and soft. The lake is gorgeous. We went every day. We brought our car - easy to pile what you need inside, easy to park, and easy to transport kids tired from swimming back up the hill. We also used the outdoor fire pit and the trampoline. The bunkhouse definitely has that whiff of old and musty ( and mothballs) so we did not end up using it, but were not short on space by any means. The owner is easy to contact and was great to work with. Mice did get into our food, so maybe bring a few extra food storage containers ( she was working on remedying that the day we left, so it may be fixed already!). The cottage is situated an easy drive from awesome Northampton, gorgeous Glendale Falls, and the beautiful Westfield River ( all of which we visited). We had a truly relaxing, wonderful week!

Relaxing Escape from Reality

It wasnā€™t what we expected

The host was great but the listing doesnā€™t tell you that the lake isnā€™t right on the property. It is about a 3-4 minute drive and a 20 minute walk. The boats were all broken, we werenā€™t able to use any of them unfortunately. The house was ALOT older than I thought it would be. It felt very cramped because of ALL the furniture. If you have allergies or if youā€™re asthmatic this might not be the place for you. We originally went up there for my dads birthday weekend but ended leaving a day early cause we couldnā€™t take how uncomfortable we all were in the house and how old feeling everything was and the musty smell all around the house. Others might like this feel, but we werenā€™t a big fan of it. We got it more for the lake cause we thought it was right across the property but it wasnā€™t. The swing set was dirty and looked like it was gonna fall apart. The trampoline was in an odd spot, and looked like it would off broken if we jumped on it. The mini pool table was missing a ball and itā€™s tiny! Not a real pool table. Some Board games were missing pieces. It wasnā€™t the greatest experience for us. Maybe someone that likes ā€œcharmā€ and that old looking feel might enjoy this stay more than we did. But we didnā€™t really enjoy our stay. The closest Walmart is 30 minutes away, and so is everything else. Youā€™re gonna travel atleast over 30 minutes to get anywhere. I appreciate the host for being on top of every question I had etc. but our stay itself wasnā€™t a great experience.

Family get away

Quaint little cabin in the woods with two bathrooms and outside bunkhouse for two, nice fire pit on private property. A half a mile to the dock but easy car ride. Everything that you needed was there as far as cooking supplies cleaning supplies linens towels etc .Beautiful quiet lake great for fishing and hanging out pet friendly our two dogs loved it.

Cabin in the woods with a fantastic dock and swimming platform!

We loved that it was rustic but had everything we needed! Kitchen was fully stocked just bring the food and drinks! Such a cute place and loved all the artwork and antiques! We did not need to use the bunk house but it was adorable!! The back yard was perfect and had tons of seating around fire pit.. There was a hammock, horseshoe pit, trampoline, bikes and plenty of PRIVACY!!! Short walk to the lake we went a couple times a day. You can drive down and bring a cooler! Sooo much fun!!

Fun Family Trip

Our family of 8 had a great time at the cottage and lake. There was plenty to do in both good and bad weather. Great place to social distance while forgetting about social distancing! The house is cozy and provides lots to do. Mice got into our food on day 3 but that is to be expected in the woods and was easy to solve by placing in plastic bins or the fridge.

Beautiful house and location

We visited this property with our 5 small children. The house and property was so unique and charming. We were in love with the house before even getting to the lake. The private dock had everything and more we could ask for. The same went for the house. We felt so at home. The property had anything and everything to keep our kids entertained. The communication with Michelle was quick and timely. My kids keep asking to go back! We loved our stay so much we want to make it an annual trip.

Perfectly quaint little cottage! ā™„

We had a absolutely wonderful time here. We loved everything about it. It has such a homey feel. The house is perfect, it has a wonderfully old - fashioned feel to it. Even some of the decorations had a vintage look. I loved it! It is roomy and comfortable. Although there is no AC, the house stayed wonderfully cool during the day and even a little chilly at night with the windows open. (Yes, even in 80+ weather) There are plenty things for the kids to do, which impressed me as I have 3 ranging in age from 2 to 12. There's a swing set, trampoline and horseshoes outside. Plus many things in the shed. Inside there's board games, puzzles, dvds etc. I don't remember seeing it on the listing, but there is a cute little area out back with a fire pit and plenty of seating, as well as a hammock. Even though this little place has neighbors, it's tucked into a little area that feels secluded. We spent a lot of time on the dock and out on the lake. FISHING WAS GREAT! (We fished off the dock for the most part so the kids could participate, but we also went out on the boat and fished as well) Not a single "dry" day! Michelle was amazing and very accommodating! We had a perfect week on Norwich lake and will definitely return to Michelle's place in the future!

What a great place with so much to do in every direction!

We had a superb eight days in mid-June (2019) and overall we were very pleased. The cottage is fully equipped for families with board games, videos, an equipment-ready kitchen for cooking meals (although we had most of our meals out). Someone described the cottage as funky. Yeah, that's accurate -- and in a good way. We had planned to take advantage of the lake and the canoes (rowboats?) provided by the homeowner but the weather either did not cooperate or we had other plans. We took full advantage of being near Northampton and its many restaurants, Jacob's Pillow (dance festival), hiking at nearby state forests, the excellent Smith College Museum of Art, the Old Creamery Coop in Cummington (lunch, homemade ice cream, bakery-cafe, organic food), the Huntington Country Store, the Outlook Farm Country Store in nearby Westfield. The place that has a special place in our hearts is the Rapids Bar & Grill in Huntington. We stopped there for a bite after a very long drive from Washington, DC, and sat at the bar with locals. Who knew that we would feel so welcome especially by Tommy, the bartender? A few people at the bar lived around Norwich Lake. We went back to The Rapids late in the week and again felt right at home thanks to Tommy and our waitress (whose name I forgot). Back at the cottage, we always felt so at home and comfortable. The homeowner was highly responsive and helpful. Although we never met, we felt her personal touch made us feel as if we were visiting the country hideaway of an old friend. It doesn't get much better than that.

Long week end

Our car bottomed out in the driveway. It would have been nice if someone told us about the large stone. Access to the lake was disappointing. Stated as short walk, but never said you had to climb a large hill to get back to the cottage. The cottage was comfortable and well equipped.
