Like many other people, I believe, when I connected to the hotel's wi-fi service I completely assumed that it was free, so did not read all the terms and conditions. Only after I checked out did I find that I was charged for it. For privacy reasons I object to joining loyalty programs, so even if I had been alerted to the Marriot program that gives free wi-fi, I would have been reluctant to do so. When paying $200 for a hotel room it is ridiculous for wi-fi not to be included.
