Lakefront Cottage with dock

Come stay at our beautiful lakefront *the Crowned Shore Cottage* and enjoy all the local amenities! This family friendly cottage has 180 feet of lakefront directly on the lake and walkable to local stores & Pineview Highlands golf course, short drive to all the shopping and includes a dock to give you all the access to the beautiful Houghton Lake. The shoreline is shallow and rises up to a max of 4-5 feet at the end of the dock (about 100ft away!), young children can enjoy the sandy lakefront!

The Space:
With 180 feet of lakefront access and a large lawn, your family and friends can unwind and relax on this beautiful property. The DNR boat launch is just blocks away and you are welcome to use our dock to bring your boat during your stay! If you're here during the winter months the lake freezes over beautifully for snowmobiling or ice-fishing and there are ski venues and snowshoeing trails close by! The living area has a smart TV, sound bar and large sliding doors with a stunning view of the lake. The entire home has been recently renovated with updated finishings throughout. The kitchen has everything you need to get started including many small appliances like a Crock Pot, Keurig and drip coffee maker, toaster and blender. The bedrooms have full size closets in each one, as well as comfy beds to get some rest after a long day on the water. There is a washer and dryer available for you to use during your stay!

Guest Access:
The guests have access to the entire home, dock and yard but we have closed off the garage for owner use only. There is a large circular driveway that can accomodate 3-4 cars comfortably.

The Neighborhood:
The home is centrally located within walking distance to local shops. The majority of the area's shopping is around 1-2 miles away. The Pineview Highlands Golf Course is close-by as well as a movie theater, the boat launch and many local sites to see.

Other Things to Note:
We love pets, but ask that you leave them at home due to allergy restrictions of many guests.

Please stay out of the garage since it is for owner use only.

The fireplace is just for decoration, if you need to cozy up use the fire pit outside, but please make sure to clean up after yourselves!

Please no smoking in or on the property.

From mid-October to mid-May the grill, outdoor table and fire pit chairs are placed in storage to protect them from the winter elements.

Out of respect to our neighborhood, no parties are allowed and quiet time begins at 10pm.

Our cleaning staff needs time to clean up for our next guests so late checkouts will be charged a fee of $25. Please be mindful to follow the house rules, including loading the dishwasher otherwise an additional cleaning fee may apply.

Great stay

We love this property and have stayed here more than once. Itā€™s got a spacious yard on the lake, clean, close to stores, nice house inside with room for many! We always keep this in mind for a family get together over the summer!

Gorgeous Lakefront destination

The house is absolutely beautiful and well stocked. The owners thought of everything you could possibly need for this little getaway. We had 10 people in our group and there was plenty of room and supplies for everyone. The yard is big with plenty of room for yard games and laying in the sun. We also loved having the fire pit as the evenings were cool. Communication was also on point! We will definitely look into booking this house again when we return to Hought Lake!

Peaceful, Cozy, Quiet - Early Fall Long Weekend

The house was perfect for our family of five. The lake view and generous size yard were better than we expected. The house was clean, comfortable, and well appointed with everything you need for a stay away from home. We would definitely stay here again to get away from the hustle and bustle and just relax.

The communication was great from the house manager. The house was clean and stocked very well. Loved the labels on the cabinets and the amount of extras it would make it really easy to have a family stay there. We had a girls weekend and outdoor space was perfect for hanging out.

2nd Time Staying Here & Will Come Back Again!!

This is the second year our family has stayed at this home and we will be back! We also recommended this listing to friends planning to visit Houghton Lake. The house is absolutely beautiful and very functional for a larger group (we had 6 adults and 4 kids)! The host thinks of everything and is attentive to details, making sure the house is stocked with anything you might need for your stay. The outdoor space is perfect with a lovely dock, nice firepit, and good sized yard/patio! The lake is shallow for a long time and an ideal place for kids to swim and play. Excellent communication from the host both leading up to and during our stay. This property is for sure a 10/10!!

Enjoyed the view!

We enjoyed our stay despite the weather not cooperating for our hopes to ice fish. Sonia was very thoughtful and had everything you need and more. Loved all the windows to enjoy the view of the lake! Sonia also was very quick to respond and allowed us to check out a little later so we could leave when the roads were in better condition.

Gorgeous family-friendly lakefront home

This home is absolutely gorgeous and a perfect spot for a family vacation! The lakefront and dock are lovely and great for kids as the water stays shallow past the dock. The hosts thought of everything and the home was extremely clean and well organized. The layout is ideal for families with a large living and dining area, two outdoor picnic tables, and a firepit with Adirondack chairs. The house is very close to Macon boat rental, Lakeland recreational, and in walking distance to some cute shops and a rite aid. We would love to come back to this house next year!

One of the most beautifully clean VBRO properties

Our family had a wonderful time at this rental. The owner, Sonia, went above and beyond with her care of detail. The house was impressively clean, which was a breath of fresh air for us! She provides many hotel-like amenities which allowed us to feel very comfortable here. The house is in a great location to local restaurants and grocery stores; and is also close to Higgins Lake. We plan to return!

Perfect Family Lakeside Vacation Home

The home is roomy, clean, well appointed and decorated. We vacation at Houghton Lake annually. This home is nicest one in which we have stayed. Great weekend getaway

We had a family vacation and our stay at The Crowned Shore Cottage was amazing. The house had everything we could need (and more)! I was very impressed with all the instructions/helpful hints and signage to find everything with ease. The property is beautiful with plenty of space to relax and enjoy Houghton Lake. We had 6 adults and 4 children and the indoor and outdoor space was more than enough. Sonia was very easy to communicate with and maintains a 5 star rental. We are looking forward to booking here again in the future.

Houghton Lk vacation

We had a very positive experience overall however there were a few items that I feel need attention. The home appeared freshly renovated on the inside which looked great. I was not able to unlock the door with the 4 digit code that was supposed to be provided. I called the support phone number and there was no one available. Thankfully the back door was left unlocked so we had access to the property. The landscaping was a bit overgrown and the seagulls took over the dock which made it pretty discussing to walk down to watch the sunset. We own several rental properties as well so we truly value feedback from our clients as well. Overall it was a very positive experience and we made some great memories with our kids. Sincerely. Lovely cottage ā€” fully stocked

The cottage was exceptionally clean and fully stocked. We had everything we needed for a wonderful stay. Plenty of signage for any questions. The owner checked in with us, which was thoughtful. We had beautiful views. The lake was shallow, so no worries about the childrenā€™s safety. We learned that the dock next door is an associationā€™s private property & no swimming near their dock. Great fun at the fire pit. The owner suggested we try Lakeland Recreation and the kids had a wonderful time. We highly recommend this listing!

Had a wonderful stay!

Me and my extended family had a wonderful stay at this Houghton Lake house! The house was very tastefully updated, and it had many conveniences available. The kitchen had everything you could need for cooking, barbequing and dining, and even the cupboards and drawers were labeled. The main bathroom had many extra items, like toothbrushes and other hygiene items, in case you forgot something at home. There were also two air mattresses provided - we only used one of them, but I was told it was the best air mattress they'd ever used before! The lake access was great. There is a long dock available if you want to fish off of it or tie a boat to it. There is a seawall, but there are convenient, safe steps (3) down to the water. The water itself is very clean with a mostly sandy bottom (just a little rocky right by the edge of the shore). The owner, Sonia, is lovely and quite responsive to communicate with. I would highly recommend a stay here, and my family and I hope to visit again soon!
