Safety issues in Literature Suite

There are good things and bad things about this property. The two big good things are the owner and the location. The owner was very nice and welcoming, knew a lot about the area, and loved my dog even though she was being shy. The location is about two blocks away from the main tourist area and walking distance to everything. The bad things are, sadly, really bad. Those two blocks to the tourist area are scary. I made sure to be in before dark. I stayed in the Literature Suite and it really needs a down-to-the-studs remodel, not in the least due to numerous code violations (I’m not up on local ordinances but I spotted some major structural/electrical issues). Exposed wiring, no heat on one side of the suite, non-working outlets, missing thresholds, etc. The dining room floor is sticky and part of it moves if you step on it. Moldy/separating baseboards and drywall, flaking paint, incomplete trim, and one outer door was missing a proper lock. All three couches are mis-matched and look like they were taken off of a curb somewhere. The beds both squeak and my back hurt just looking at them. The suite did NOT smell like smoke which was too bad because it would have been a good excuse to leave. If my dog hadn’t been with me I would have left anyway for safety reasons. They really should not be renting this room out. An un-comfy mattress is one thing but electrical problems and non-working heat are another. I will not be staying here again and you should not either.

Dirty room, no any services available

The worst hotel I have ever stayed. The room is very dirty and the bed is too soft. There are hairs on towels. Breakfast is not even included.

Close hotel near downtown hot springs

Very friendly staff and were very accommodating. We enjoyed how each room game with a $10 food voucher that you could use at their very good and healthy restaurant, market there on the hotel grounds. The rooms were novelty and old fashioned, they weren't posh by any means but we weren't expecting the such. If you want a hotel with some character then i'd recommend The B inn.

Big Dissappointment

When we arrived on the day of checkin, at the correct time, there was nobody on the premises to give us a key. We tried the hotel phone number and got a poor English speaking woman that seemed to no nothing about the hotel. Finally someone arrived with a key but in the mean time another couple arrived and was told that their reservation was invalid and they did not have a room. This couple had driven nearly 700 miles to find out they had no place to stay. The curtains in the room were hung incorrectly and there was no free wi-fi as advertised. My wife and I had stayed at this hotel three years prior but this was completely different than that stay. There was no shampoo or soap in the shower room and the in room refrigerator worked poorly. Bath towels were super small and did not meet the requirements for a bath towel. We tried to use the in wall heat/air conditioner and it did not work. This room is a very poor choice and we will never stay there again.

Very disappointed

I was very disappointed with this stay. I arrived at 4:00 and they were just cleaning the room. Check in is at 3:00. They advertise continental breakfast. What a joke. No food to eat. And they charge you for it. The shower head faces the curtain. Floor gets completely wet and its small. I will NEVER stay there again.

This is an old hotel that's needs work

When we showed up to the location the condition of the outside was shocking. After locating checkin the inside was an additional shock. Large room small worn out beds. Mildew smell in all rooms and even the towels had a mildew smell.

Had to wait 30 minutes while they cleaned the room and got it ready. No lobby to wait in. When we came back to the room in the evening the TV did not operate. Brought in another ancient TV. Same thing. Then a small TV. It worked but the whole process took an hour. No remote for the tv and channel selection was very limited. Bathroom was very small and if you weigh over 200 pounds you would be very uncomfortable here.

Old but nice

It's an old hotel but clean and fairly well maintained. To me it was kind of like at grandmas house. Biker friendly if you don't mind the steep driveway.

Nice motel

The B Inn has a lot of character. I stayed in the Rustic Room. It was very comfortable. The office was closed when I left at 8 am. It would have been nice if they had a drop box for the key.

Hot Springs Funkiness -- It's a Good Thing

This was our second stay at the B, and it won't be our last. We like it. It isn't a brand new hotel with sparkling amenities, though, so if that's your thing, stay somewhere else. If you like a place that's got some history and is a little bit run down -- a patina, if you will -- but still perfectly serviceable and for a good price, you might dig the B. We almost never go anywhere to enjoy the HOTEL when we travel, we go to enjoy the place the hotel is located. So as long as the hotel is clean and the bed is comfy and the shower is hot, I'm happy. Our bed was huge and cozy, water was piping hot, and there was a little kitchenette in the room so if we'd wanted to stay longer and get really budget-y, we could have eaten some cold meals there. It's true that there's an abandoned hotel across the street in the process of being demolished, but it wasn't in progress, and I guess I find that sort of thing interesting so it didn't bother me. Part of a revitalization effort. The B is close enough to walk to the bath houses and restaurants downtown, as long as you're a person who enjoys walking a few blocks, which I do.

quirky historic spot

this is a historic place mid-restoration. because of this it is available for what is usually a third to half the price of the historic hotels a block away. it is on the quiet side of town and within walking distance to the historic baths. breakfast is good but, as i usually travel on business as opposed to leisure, starts fairly late for my preference. it is different than the usual chain joint (if you are not the type of person that would seriously use the word "quirky" in describing a good thing, this probably isn't the place for you). I always sleep well when I stay here and the water pressure is great.

If you want something unique, eclectic and interesting this is your stop. If you need luxury and pampering, go somewhere else. We loved it!

great themed idea

This motel is a pleasant place to stay, and very convenient to downtown. I most of all the the idea of themed rooms..I think they should make more of the rooms themed because its a nice catch..Just some ideas would be a Christmas, 4th of July...Mirrored room..Botanical room just some ideas...Maybe put in some new doors would be a good idea..Overall rating is excellent...Thank You

The worse experence. We arrived and after see the room left the B&B and look for a other hotel. This type of places should be elimibated from expidia.

Spiderwebs and no service

We arrived at 11pm from a long day's drive, booked the hotel an hour prior via hotels.com. When we showed up, there was no one there to check us in. The was a sign on the door of a building that looked like the place to check in, when I went up to era the sign, I got a face full of spiderwebs and had to have my wife check me for spiders afterward. We found a small one on my leg. After that traumatizing experience we were trying to reach someone and the phone was disconnected. The sign directed us to a nearby market to check in, but no one to be found, it was dark inside and we knocked on both doors. Cancelled our reservation and went to the rhodeway in. No spiders, and although it the reception was dark, the women answered our knocking almost immediately. B Inn, if you are a hotel, then act like one.

great getaway

Friend and I wanted a comfy place to stay, close to town, so we could walk to town. Place was clean, full size rooms with antique furniture, full kitchen and even a dining room. We were so pleased. The gentlemen that own the place are right there for security and help. Organic restaurant for food and great people. Great books to read. Couldn't have asked for better for the price.

great place!

Very good hotel room for the price. It was decorated like the 70's but clean and lots of space. The service was outstanding. The only downfall was the location was not the best part of hot springs but I would stay there again and recommend it to anyone looking for a good deal!

Bates Motel

The staff is very friendly. But the hotel is run down. Our air conditioner leaked, it wouldn't cool the room. Next in the bathroom was a board in the window where the glass had been broke. The bathroom was small not made for big people. In the kitchen the stove had rust on it and a huge hole behind a picture in the wall. The room was called romantic novel room. Ha ha. The pictures on the internet are deceiving. The hotel needs lots of work. Don't stay here.

Lots of potential - not much else.

I just completed a 14 day road trip from Texas to Minnesota and this was the worst hotel by far. We stayed in the history room. Lots of old books and weird furnishings. I guess it was clean but it felt dirty. The carpet needs replacing, new mattresses, lighten the bathroom. There is no front desk. You have to walk to a nearby "organic" grocery and ask for your key. I don't know what you do after hours. The old home attached is beautiful but needs LOTS of repair. It is unlivable at the present. Find someplace else to stay.

Not satisfied

The price was right and the towels, washcloths and soap were very nice. But that is about it for good things. The rooms in our suite were overcrowded with old furniture. It seems like the owners must enjoy going to sales and picking up old furniture to stash in their rooms. And the spring water that they supplied for us was sitting outside our door in the heat. I would not encourage anyone to go there. Pay a little more and get a better place to spend the night.
