Unfortunately, we had to contact the owner on our first full day at the property regarding the air conditioning and the oven. The oven was left in disrepair the entire time that we rented the house. We did contact the owner and gave them the error code on the oven, but we were told that the last renters had no problem with it. We accommodated the situation and changed all of our meals for the vacation. We had three families staying in the house a total of 12 people. The third floor we were unable to keep the air temperature below 89. The main floor we were unable to keep the temperature below 84. The owner did respond to my text about the air conditioning problem, but seemed to be convinced that it was because we were leaving the balcony doors open. Not only did we not leave the balcony doors open we also closed all the blinds in the house so that the house would stay cooler. After going back-and-forth with the owner, she did agree to send a repair man out to check the unit. The repair man found a wire that was burnt that was causing the unit to malfunction and not cool properly. we notified the owner of the problem. The owner felt that the burnt wire was our fault. This was a very uncomfortable situation for us as renters. After our vacay, VRBO notified us that a claim was made against our rental insurance for the repair! This was clearly the owners responsibility. A moderate discount for the lack of proper air was given, but we had 4 miserably hot days and evenings.
