Summary:
Welcome to historic Cavell Street Cottage, built in 1870 and located on the fringe of the Hobart CBD, within easy reach of the city's most popular attractions. The iconic Salamanca Market and picturesque waterfront are just a short distance away, offering a delightful mix of art, culture and local cuisine. Whether you're a history enthusiast, a food lover, or simply seeking a relaxing getaway, the cottage offers the perfect base for up to 6 to explore Hobart's rich heritage and natural beauty.

The Space:
Welcome to historic Cavell Street Cottage, built in 1870, filled with character and set in central West Hobart. The cottage was built with a mix of convict brick and sandstone which has endured the test of time and been beautifully retained.

The traditional cottage layout features an entry hall with original timber flooring and baltic wall lining and the two ground floor bedrooms opening off either side. These rooms are both generously proportioned and enjoy city and water views.

Follow the staircase to discover the third spacious loft bedroom upstairs, with raked ceilings and offering a great view from the dormer window.

The cottage comfortably accommodates up to 6 guests across the 3 bedrooms.

While the fully equipped kitchen provides everything you need to prepare delicious meals using local produce from nearby markets, whether it is iconic Salamanca Market each Saturday or the Farm Gate market each Sunday.

The bathroom features a separate shower and bath to enjoy a relaxing soak in at the end of the day. Step outside into the under cover courtyard, where you can enjoy alfresco dining or a morning coffee and take in the large backyard.

A historic and comfortable base to enjoy Hobart from. The cottage has off street parking for one vehicle.

Guest Access:
Guests will have exclusive use of the cottage during their stay.

West Hobart is a hub of local activity, with its mix of cafes, restaurants, and boutique shops. Take a leisurely stroll along Elizabeth Street, the main thoroughfare, and discover an array of eateries offering diverse cuisines, from trendy brunch spots to cozy dinner venues. For those who enjoy the outdoors, West Hobart offers easy access to beautiful parks and reserves. Just a short distance from my cottage, you'll find Knocklofty Reserve, a lush green park where you can go for a leisurely hike, enjoy a picnic, or simply take in the panoramic views of Hobart's skyline.

In addition to its charm, West Hobart also benefits from its proximity to the city centre. The bustling waterfront and iconic Salamanca Place are just a short distance away. Explore the Salamanca Market, held every Saturday, where you can browse local produce, handcrafted goods, and unique souvenirs. Enjoy waterfront dining, visit the maritime museum, or catch a live performance at one of the nearby theaters.

West Hobart provides an ideal base for exploring the best the city has to offer.

Getting Around:
West Hobart offers convenient access to various transportation options, allowing you to explore Hobart and its surrounding areas with ease.

Public transportation is readily available, with bus stops located within a short walking distance from my cottage. Catching a bus is a convenient and cost-effective way to navigate the city, with routes connecting you to key attractions, shopping districts, and other neighbourhoods.

If you prefer to travel by car, my cottage provides off-street parking for one vehicle, ensuring you have a secure place to park during your stay. From here, you can easily access major roads and highways, allowing you to venture further and explore the beautiful outskirts of Hobart.

For those who enjoy a leisurely stroll, the central location offers the advantage of being within walking distance to many popular attractions. Including the waterfront and Salamanca.

Additionally, West Hobart itself is a vibrant neighbourhood that boasts an array of local amenities. From boutique shops to cozy cafes and local markets, everything you need is within reach, making it convenient to run errands or simply explore around the area.

Whether you choose to rely on public transportation, drive your own vehicle, or explore on foot, the central location of my cottage ensures that you have multiple options to get around and make the most of your stay in Hobart.

Other Things to Note:
There is a steep wooden staircase inside of the property. This staircase provides the only access to the third (attic) bedroom - please see photos to ensure this is not an issue for your group.

The off-street car space will be adequate for one small to medium size vehicle.

Interaction with Guests:
Although I wont be available during your stay, I have a team that assists in managing my home if you require anything throughout your stay.

accommodation was perfectly set up for our 8 night stay. Check-in instructions simple to follow. Close to CBD and well stocked grocery store in nearby Hill St for provisions. Some great cafes in close proximity. The house is well maintained with modern facilities. Highly recommend this accommodation.
