We had gotten there and I noticed I was getting bitten and I found multiple fleas in the apartment and I’ve left with many flea bites on my back, legs, and feet. They say they’ve never had any flea problems prior, I am just wondering why it happened now and what they are going to do about it.

The place is small but very clean and well stocked. My two boys liked seeing the ducks from the balcony in the morning. The pool is really nice. The apartment itself was fine, small bedrooms, full kitchen and a bathroom that was stocked body wash, shampoo and toothpaste. The location was the best part of the trip, literally minutes away from the mall, airport, Bobby Wong Stadium and restaurants. My only small complaint was navigating through the parking lot trying to find BLD 1. Directions should be included on the site, blds 7-10 are on the top parking lot and blds 1-6 are located in the back which requires you to take another street to access. However, I would stay again, if you are just visiting the Hilo side the apartment is conveniently close to everything.

Clean and Central Location

The unit was as depicted in photos. Clean and well equipped. It is very centrally located within Hilo and has easy access to all surrounding areas. The manager was extremely easy to communicate with and very responsive. I had a small problem while there and it was addressed and fixed within 24 hours. Very good experience.

Quiet and close to town

Loved the quiet and lanai on lagoon. The apartment was clean but the apartment complex is old with much weather damage. Beds are comfortable in small rooms. Property Manager was quick to respond to questions. Good info on how to find parking lot and get into apartment. Close to restaurants. Thank you.

Tropical bargain

Clean and quiet apartment overlooking an extensive, complex-wide koi pond. Fountains, waterfalls, geese and other birds are entertaining, great place to start and end the day. Close to parks and downtownEnormous swimming pool.

Nice place to stay with the family. Loved the location very easy access to the area. Only thing hard to find the building number. But the address to the place that was provided on the site lead us to the building. Will stay again in the future.

Convenient Walk Up

Hilo Sunshine was a hidden gem perfectly located in the heart of town. Outdoor area was in need of TLC, especially the parking lot. Fish pond and waterfall right outside our lanai was amazing! Was able to walk to most places in 15 minutes. Unit was clean and had all the necessities. Was a good touch having extra condiments and toiletries. Decor was good but some pieces of furniture could use a face lift. Check in was quick and easy though would suggest in the future, an email be sent a week prior to clarify the check in process. Mahalo for sharing the unit. Will be back.

Good central location

Good location. Great parking lot area. Apartment supplied with everything you need. Property manager was very helpful. The rooms were smaller than appeared in the pictures though. Building was hard to find since there is a wall hiding the number of the building. Great convenient location, close to the main restaurants and stores. It would be nicer to have more seating in the living room, but nice view of a beautiful pond with fishes and waterfalls from the balcony. I guess it would be perfect for no more than two people. We were four adults and it was a little small. Our suggestion would be to replace the bed in the smaller room (pink queen bed) by a bunkbed to have a little more room to walk around the bed. Overall review is good, clean, convenient location and quite. We would stay there again but just me and my husband. Thank you so much.

Nice stay

This was a quiet apartment conveniently located in downtown Hilo. It had a beautiful waterfall and koi pond to look at as we drink our morning coffee in the lanai. Had everything we needed for our stay. The building and property is a little older, but still clean, quiet/peaceful , and safe. Worked out great for us for going to volcano and waterfalls.

Quick stay

We did a 24 hour trip to the island and this spot was perfect. We didn’t expect much much could have stayed here for several days. Nice to have the flexibility for just one night though!

Great location, convenient stay

This was the first time for us on the Big Island and this trip was our first time using Vrbo so was not sure what to expect. Therefore, please take my comments with a grain of salt as I have no basis for comparison with other accommodation in Hilo. We just stayed at Club Wyndham Royal Cliff in Kona and paid nearly double we spent here, so it would not be a fair comparison. The best part of this property is that it is in a great location. We were minutes away from everything - restaurants and shopping etc which was very very convenient. Hilo is relatively a small town (we are from Tokyo) so maybe everything is close. The unit may not have been 4 star or 5 star hotel quality clean but I guess it was clean enough for the price so I think it was reasonable. The bedrooms and kitchen were very clean which was great and most important, but the living room floor and bathroom/shower could have been a bit more cleaner I thought. The kitchen was well stocked with appliances, utensils, and condiments etc. which was also very nice. This is not under the control of the property owner but the building itself seemed dated (as most buildings probably are in Hilo) but there were some garbage around the building and parking lot. If they maintained the property better, it could be so much better. For example, someone smashed dozens of eggs in the parking lot but this was not cleaned the entire time we were there (we stayed 3 nights) which was very surprising to see. I guess it showed the quality of the property management. The owner should definitely complain to the property management about that. Overall, we were satisfied with the stay, given the price. The owner was responsive when we had questions so no issues there. In general, the unit we stayed was well maintained. Not having AC was a bit uncomfortable but I guess no AC in Hilo is relatively common.
