Pros: Beautiful lake view, nice back yard for dogs to play, nicely remodeled historic home and well stocked with linens, fans ,kitchen equipment, comfy beds and couch! Nice and private with great fire pit! Owners are great communicators and very response to all questions. Probably the best communication we have had in a VRBO to date! Big Plus! Cons: Front yard is very close to main road (keep fur-babies in the back only), two of the bedrooms are separated by a thin curtain (we had to change our previous planned sleeping arrangements and front bathroom door entrance is in an unairconditioned porch entry area causing bathroom to be hot and not well ventilated. The second entry for bathroom is connected to the two bedroom with curtain. It can be a bit tricky when you are traveling with other married couples, but we made it work. Boat dock has no roof (pictured in owners photos) and is a bit tricky to dock. It has two big metal bumpers when pulling in with boat instead of plastic..kinda like roadway metal railing. We did leave with a good scratch on our new boat. Since the lake is so busy waves keep boat knocking around constantly Looks like they have plans for dock improvements in the future as supplies where laying in backyard. I hope the owners do that, it will be beautiful! Overall: Great stay with just some minor quarks.

Great Lakeside Home!

Beautifully decorated and on a Great Lake lot! It has all the extras like coffee and kitchen supplies. Located near wineries and restaurants and the Georgia Mountain Fair.

Lake trip for active family

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at this adorable little farm house. My husband loved the history of it and checked out the root cellar and spring house. We docked our boat at the dock using a public access ramp about 1.5 miles down the road. It was nice being close to town and it is a central location for lots of things to do. We visited High Shoals Falls and Brasstown Bald while there. The house had every kitchen item you could possibly need. Everything was new and clean and toiletries were stocked.

The listing and reviews were spot on. This is a great home that was very well remodeled/restored. I was very thankful for the communication and response of the owners when I had questions. I canā€™t say enough about the quality of the appliances, the taste and quality of the finishes, especially the bathroom. For a small to medium family of up to six, this house is perfect.

Memorial Day Weekend

We really enjoyed our stay here on Lake Chatuge. This house is conveniently located 5 minutes from downtown. It was easy to run to the grocery store, restaurants, and the marina to pick up the boat we rented. Very clean inside and the renovations were done well. We will definitely be back for another lake weekend.

Cozy and clean. Scenery is beautiful with access to the lake. Great fishing spot. Caught lots of fish. Quiet, relaxing and calm waters. Would definitely visit again. Shannon was great!!!

Cozy with tons of charm

We loved staying at the Hersie House. The home is extremely well equipped with all the essentials and a few nice extras that we didnā€™t expect, such as coffee and creamer and spices in the kitchen. The decor was charming. We enjoyed looking at the pictures of the renovation and reading about the history of the place. The heated bathroom floor was a touch of heaven! We will be back!!

Beautiful, clean lake

My husband and I brought our boat with us to enjoy the lake. The boat launch was close by. The boat dock at the house was easy to get in and out of. It was nice to be able to leave the boat docked at the house until we were ready to check out. Great restaurants close by.

Perfect Lake Getaway!

We had a most wonderful week in Hiawassee and at this darling property! The farmhouse is adorably redone but maintains the charm of the original house! The decorations are perfect and the house has everything you need to enjoy your stay! Lake access was easy and we spent a lot of time on the dock reading, drinking coffee and enjoying the lake life! Hiawassee, GA and Haysville, NC were also great towns with fun local spots to enjoy! We rented a boat for the day and stopped at The Marina grill for lunch and visited the local VFW for some bar bingo! There are plenty of yummy places to eat and we just had a most wonderful time overall! Will surely return and stay again at this perfect lake property!

We fell in love with this house!

We loved our stay. Over 100 year old house, but updated with nice comfortable features yet still the old farm house look and feel. The house was very clean, always funny about staying where other folks live and or vacation. A/c worked great, heated bathroom floor was just awesome. Very comfortable beds, newer appliances. Great location, close to town and on the lake. Did not want to leave after a a four night stay. Would love to come back again soon. This house would be nice year round.

Relaxing Stay at the cutest Farmhouse!!

We had a relaxing 2 night stay at The Hersie House. We slept like babies in its comfy bed during the terrible storm that passed through. Its decor & charm is so welcoming and the history takes you back!! Shannon the Host made sure we had everything we needed and gave quick response to any questions. We loved the open space in the back even though itā€™s located on the main road. Itā€™s close to food & DG if you need something quick. Go a head and just book it!!

With three kids and 2 dogs itā€™s hard to find a place with plenty of room to hang out, a nice stocked kitchen, and nearby activities and this is the spot! Loved the fire pit for sā€™mores, the lake for fishing, and all the nearby parks and waterfalls. Highly recommend

Sweet Retreat

We just spent a couple nights in Hiawassee and loved this property. It was clean and the updates are great. Itā€™s a good location with water access. It is convenient to everything in Hiawassee.

Cute little retreat

We had a very relaxing and comfortable 3 night stay at this cute little house. Refurbished and delightfully decorated. Fully adjustable and easy climate control and even heated bathroom floor. Quite fun!
