It’s a shame you chose to focus on only negative items that were specific to you being seniors such as your issues opening the front door and with mobility using stairs. The stairs are clearly shown in our photos in our listing which apparently you did not see. You also asked us about stairs prior to your stay and we advised yes there were stairs yet for some reason you booked our place anyway knowing stairs are an issue for you. The lock box you struggled with is a simple realtor style lock box with a six digit code along with detailed instructions which you received to open it. We do not list shampoo, conditioner and lotion as amenities and specifically state those items are not provided both in our travel documents we sent to you and the listing description. I hope you found our valuable trip planner document we provide each guest beneficial during stay which shares tons of information about Helen and things to do with special discounts for our guests. For a prospective renter reading this review I wanted to address some of her concerns; I spoke with our staff about the detergent and they said it is the same they have always used the past 7 years. This is the first complaint we have received about the sheets smelling too strong in terms of a detergent, so not sure what happened there. Our one lane road is very quiet and only about 200 meters to our house so it is a very short drive and is paved with most times there are no other vehicles. Our driveway is steep in only the entry, any car or SUV or truck can navigate but just not low rider modifications or long trailers. yes there is some noise, levels vary from the restaurant and bar. Most guests find that fine with the fan for some white noise and we fully disclose that. The time of year she stayed was the conclusion of Oktoberfest the biggest event of the year so it was louder than normal. When you are so close to town and can walk to everything, one must give up the silence of nature, but otherwise you have to drive and battle traffic and find no where to park in busy downtown Helen. I'm sorry about the coffee pot not being emptied and some dusty areas - not the impression we wish to leave any guest and normally that is not the case with our staff and it has been addressed. They had a replacement person clean the past few guests from our normal cleane for personal reasons. As for the lighting or brightness, that depends on the season and when the leaves are out, summer versus winter and weather conditions. During your stay it was totally stormy and overcast with pounding rains and lightning storms causing widespread power outages as we discussed together during your stay so we cannot control that. All of what Ashleigh said is either false or totally exaggerated. Any person reading all of our 100+ VRBO reviews for the specific rental will see this 1 star rating is a total outlier of our cabin. Our cleaning staff is superb and reliable and we have used them since 2017. They are also human and missed the dusty leaves of the one plant she mentioned for which we apologized. The AC vents had some dust inside since they were due for specialized HVAC duct cleaning we get every April and October. She stayed in March so it was not done for the spring season. That was it - the cabin was not and has never been filthy and does not smell other than a cabin in the woods which has a slight pine smell. We never called her "extremely rude", a blatant lie. Only after she told us and I quote, "update your old and gross/disgusting furniture" and called us "audacious and insane" and told us "your cabin smelled like some grandma." We very politely asked her to please keep things civil and to respect us as we had always been respectful back to her in our communication. Still to this day we do not understand the anger/hostility - example - "She would give us zero stars if she could?" Really - we were just that awful? c'mon. Keep in mind we never heard from Ashleigh during her stay about any cleaning issues - only after she checked out did she say anything. As a host you cannot fix an issue if a guest says nothing. As for the house rules she found so irritating; yes for example we ask guests to cap their toothpaste since ants smell the sweet scent. We ask guests not to walk down through our steep front yard as one guest took a nasty fall doing that, but apparently that stuff bothered her? The guests before and after her had a great time as they always do at this place. It has over 1000 combined reviews online 4.93 star rating. It is a shame in today's world anyone can unjustly and falsely trash a business without cause and all a business, or a host in this case can do is respond the best they can.

Hi Christy and thanks for taking the time to write a review. Glad you enjoyed your stay. Not understanding the issue with the bathroom, as our listing clearly states one bathroom, not two and we go into a detailed description of what the bathroom entails, so it is a shame to get dinged 1 star for something that did not happen. We also let all guests know in advance in our VRBO listing description on weekends and depending time of year you can hear the noise from town.
