  • Making Memories is centrally located on the first floor and conveniently located next to the coin-operated laundry facility (which even offers an ocean view). The Durant Station Condominiums offer spectacular ocean views from every property. All condos have private, 28-foot oceanfront decks, as well as sound side decks for viewing colorful sunsets. Elevator service to all levels makes Durant Station a most convenient choice for all ages: no need to haul luggage and groceries up long flights of stairs! Guests are just a few short steps to the ocean via a private wooden walkway. The Hatteras area offers some of the best fishing and sunbathing on the East Coast.

    At Durant Station, you'll enjoy a host of amenities including one of Hatteras Islands' largest private pools with an adjacent hot tub available from April 1 to January 1. The Durant Station Community Center is 'crowned' by the original historic Durant Lifesaving Station tower, a rich piece of Hatteras Islands past. You'll find the Community Center ideal for relaxing with friends, conducting meetings, wedding parties, and receptions, or simply enjoying the lounge areas, which offer a 50' plasma TV, pool table, gas fireplace, and a complete kitchen on the upper level. The Durant Station Complex consists of three floors, which start about 12 feet above the ground. The parking lot and walks are paved with concrete. All retreats are tastefully furnished and fully equipped with linens to make your stay comfortable as well as memorable.

    This home has access to a community pool, the community pools in our area are typically open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Community pools are operated at the discretion of the community HOA so the availability schedule may be subject to change without notice.

This property is in great location. The unit was nice , kitchen well stocked. Close to beach and pool and hot tub were nice as well. This was second time we stayed on this property and both units were nice. Highly recommend for a great family vacation.

Great Vacation Spot in Hatteras!

The Durant Condos are so convenient to the Hatteras beach & Condo pool...& we also found several fine dining establishments in close proximity...just a very nice location to spend a beach vacation!

Although this condo could do with some updating it's still a nice place to stay. Excellent location and easy walk to the beach. Would recommend!

Loved this condo

This condo was roomy, comfortable and exceeded our expectations. The ocean was right in the backyard with a beautiful beach and easy access. We visited in late december and had no problem finding plenty of new adventures.

We had a wonderful week at the beach. It`s in a great location, with everything we needed. The kitchen even has an impressive set of spices. Overall, I was very pleased. It was a very relaxing week. Everything we needed was a short distance away, even an arcade and rock climbing for the younger tenants. We were also able to purchase live crabs to steam and season ourselves in the very ample crab pot provided on the premesis of Out Of The Blue. I was very impressed by the fully equipped kitchen. We have always stayed in an oceanfront house for over 20 years. This was our first time in an oceanfront condo and I was very nervous about noise related issues and size. I was pleasantly surprised at how wonderful this unit was and this whole property. So clean and well taken care of. This condo was very well taken care of and furnished great. Kitchen was furnished very good and had well working newer smaller appliances. The pool and pool furniture also. Boardwalk was great and under condos storage units was a great surprise that was really appreciated. I would recommend these to anyone! It was not very clean at all. The fans had inches of dirt and dust on them and black mold around the vents. Someone came quickly to clean them but still overall was not clean. There was a used bandaid under the bed that my dog found which could have been very bad if she had choked on it. The baseboards and slats in the door in the hallway are filthy. The television in the back room that connects to the hall bathroom hardly has a picture on it. It was too fuzzy to even watch anything. The handle on the sliding door in the master bedroom needs fixed also. The area around the trashcan was also very dirty. For how much money that I spent it really needs to be cleaner it was very disappointing and I would not ever stay in this unit again. The furniture is also very uncomfortable.

Management should consider a new cleaning service

On the plus side, the location is great if you prefer a more secluded location away from the crowds, and the unit had what we were looking for in terms of number of bedrooms, proximity to the beach, availability of a pool and hot tub and accessibility for older guests via the elevator. There were a few unfortunate downsides to our stay, in particular, the cleanliness of the unit and the seating options. It was clear that the place had not been thoroughly cleaned in some time: -The floors were extremely dirty when we arrived; to the point that my socks were very discolored after walking around for a few hours. -There was a used floss pick in one of the nightstand drawers -There was mold on the drain catcher in the kitchen sink. -There were dishes from the previous renters sitting in the dishwasher. -The bathtub drain was clogged, resulting in water standing in the tub while showering. (The management office promptly sent someone over to resolve this issue when we called to report it on the second day). -We found several bugs, both dead and alive in the unit during our stay. In addition, although the condo sleeps six, there is only seating for four in the living room (not counting bar stools) and the sofa was so uncomfortable to sit on that we ended up setting up a beach chair to use instead. Something to be aware of if you plan to spend any time relaxing at the condo. Overall we had a nice stay, but it would have been greatly enhanced if the place had been cleaner and we had a comfortable place to sit at the end of the day.
