Surrounded by the mountains of the southern Harz, which rise up to 600 m, in the historic town centre of Ilfeld, you will find our family-run guest house, which was built in half-timbered style around 1800 as the first school in Ilfeld. Our holiday flats are named after the surrounding mountains or rock formations.

You stay in the holiday flat "Mönch" for up to 3 persons (approx. 40 m²) on the ground floor. The flat can be reached via 4 steps into the house and is therefore also suitable for older guests. It consists of a living room with flat screen TV, upholstered suite (sleeping area for the third person), wall unit, a bedroom with 2 single beds (which can be put together to form a double bed), kitchen with electric cooker, dining table with 3 chairs, fridge, etc. as well as a window for ventilation with a view of our courtyard, bathroom with shower/bathtub, washbasin, WC and a window for ventilation with a view of our courtyard.

Internet via our in-house hot-spot is available free of charge.

A car park on our enclosed property is available free of charge by arrangement.

The beautiful outdoor area with many flowers, sunbathing lawn and outdoor seating invites you to relax, unwind or have a barbecue. Enjoy the view of the mountains and pretty half-timbered houses.

The most beautiful hiking trails start right on our doorstep.

Shopping facilities such as a private butcher's shop with Thuringian specialities and a range of food and drinks for daily needs, bread and rolls from the local bakery and a snack bar for breakfast and lunch (barbecues are always served on Fridays) are just a 2-minute walk away. A supermarket, drinks store, bakery, gift shop, pharmacy, doctor's surgery and hairdresser are also located in the village.

A dialysis centre for diabetics is 250m away from our guest house.

Within a radius of approx. 800m there are:
2 restaurants, an ice cream parlour, pub, the wellness oasis, fitness studio, a skating facility, children's playground in the spa park, a bakery as well as a souvenir, newspaper, watch and jewellery gift shop and the church.

There are 4 restaurants within a larger radius (up to 5 km), which can also be easily reached on foot.

The Harz narrow-gauge railway runs daily from Ilfeld to Wernigerode, into the Selke valley, to Quedlinburg and also up to the Brocken.

The most beautiful hiking trails start on our doorstep and the Ilfeld valley is impressively framed by magnificent mixed forest. Rock formations such as the "Gänseschnabel", the "Nadelöhr", the "Mönch" or the historic coal mine "Rabensteiner Stollen" are worthwhile destinations for hikers in this valley. From Ilfeld, 250 kilometres of hiking trails lead through deep valleys, over medium heights with wide views, to inviting forest inns with typical Harz food and drink. Or from the iron, approx. 38m high Poppen tower on the 600m high Poppenberg, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the varied landscape of the southern Harz foreland on a clear day.
Within a larger radius (up to 5km) there are 4 restaurants and pubs within easy walking distance.

Harztor - Ilfeld is picturesquely situated in the most beautiful valley of the southern Harz. Our region of the Thuringian Harz is a small landscape spoilt by nature and the climate, surrounded by the mountains of the Harz. Ilfeld is a holiday resort situated between Lower Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt on the southern edge of the Harz mountains in Thuringia. It has about 3000 inhabitants.
