The pretty medieval town of Harlech, dominated by its UNESCO castle, has Royal St. David’s Golf Course, good restaurants and interesting shops. Bustling Barmouth, a harbour town, is situated in a most picturesque location with many shops, a small funfair and a sandy beach is only 10 miles away. Porthmadog is also 10 miles; another attractive harbour town, it is home to the Ffestininog Steam Railway and the Welsh Highland Railway. It is also near the attractive Italianate village of Portmeirion. The station on the Cambrian Coast Railway is nearby with services to Harlech, Porthmadog, Criccieth and Pwllheli in one direction, and services to Barmouth, Fairbourne, Aberdyfi, and Machynlleth.
