"I sent my wife, her foreign guest, and the neighbor on an outing—mainly because the noise level at home had reached “incoming artillery level”.I steered them away from repetitive shopping, they enjoyed some fresh air, and I found the sound of silence.Unfortunately… they’ve returned.They loved it. "Great location. House is clean. The finishes and equipment/utensils are all high-end. The property owner is super responsive and accommodating. The long dock off the back of the property is awesome. We saw plenty of fish, crabs, birds, and porpoises during our stay. If you like crabbing and fishing and sipping wine on the water; stay here! "

"We went to Mathews Market Days on 9/6. Beautiful location. Wonderful to see all the birds while grilling. The S'mores were a nice added treat. "

"Tthe history of the property itself was amazing. Not to mention the surrounding area. The house was near to the community but also far enough out to be very quiet and peaceful. We loved the open floor plan of the main level but if you have issues with mobility, accessing the stairs to the second floor may be an issue. "

"Everything was very nice. The kitchen is located on the second floor and has everything one could need. There is plenty of room for having a big family dinner. The yard is quite large which our dogs appreciated. There is no fence around the yard but it wasn’t an issue for us. We would happily stay here again. "

"This is a lovely quiet property on the water. It was the best supplied property I’ve ever stayed in with food in the cupboard and fridge and bath room toiletries, even an extra toothbrush. (Good thing because I forgot mine.) There’s plenty of room to spread out and even a pool table. Highly recommended for your next trip to this wonderful little corner of the world. "

"Great stay and fantastic views. Felt like we were isolated, yet only 10 minutes from Kilmarnock. Enjoyed the great blue heron, seagulls, nuthatches and humming bird that were around the property. Large rooms and plenty of space to spread out."

"This house has beautiful views and it was only about 45 min to Williamsburg. It is on Hills Bay, which flows into the Chesapeake Bay. The water is very shallow and would be great for younger kids. We brought kayaks and enjoyed our time on the water. It would be fantastic for someone that owns a boat too. The water doesn’t have many waves, but we tied a party size float to part of the dock and all the kids, ages 10-19, loved our time there. Since I’m the first review, I think I might be the first...

"We just returned home from the most perfect week at Gwynn's cottage! We had never been to the area but chose it mainly for the water views, access to fishing, kayaking, the private beach and wanted a relaxing week and we had that and more. Literally everything you need is here -comfy beds, all the linens and fully stocked kitchen. It's an older home but has so much charm, so many thoughtful touches including a cabinet full of books, movies and puzzles, a shed with bikes, kayaks, chairs, crab...

"We LOVED our stay and it was so relaxing. We traveled with an infant (5 months) and it went great. The Jacobs were so generous and offered us an early day check-in and late check-out free of charge. The sunrises were EXTRAORDINARY and the property is fully stacked with anything you need but might forget. Ex: we forgot our bug spray and found one on the property! The property is clean, kitchen fully functional and well stocked with cooking/serving wear. Freezer has an ice maker and that was...

"It was just a quick getaway with my husband and the room and grounds were wonderful!The host couldn’t have been nicer, nor more accommodating! The bed was great, amenities plentiful, and the room was beautiful. The neighborhood as ideal for our power walk. And…..the view!!!! The seating area on the dock was our favorite place for morning coffee and nightcaps!!We will definitely be back!!"
