Our top-floor suite boasts breathtaking views of the ocean and cliffs, spanning along the coastline and reaching up to the summit of Mt Haleakala. Whether you're here for a romantic escape or a family vacation, Rainbow offers a magical retreat away from the stresses of daily life. Plus, we're only a short 15-20 minute drive away from grocery stores and a variety of dining options, making it an ideal base as you explore the island.


☞ Rainbow Lookout is a dramatic two story accommodation which has a feeling of privacy and seclusion. Upstairs, you have Cal King bed with six foot skylights overhead for star-gazing - (our stars are very bright here, far away from city lights)... two private balconies, one with gorgeous ocean views and the other over our beautiful pool. Downstairs, there are two small sitting rooms (one with a couch/trundle so if you have an extra little one, we can make space for you) ... full bathroom, wet bar (fridge, sink, dishwasher, coffee maker, blender, microwave etc ... cooking is done outside under the covered lanai - perfect for light meal prep ... and we have lots of 'plug ins' - griddle, electric frying pan, plug in hot plate etc) + dining area leading out on to one of several private lanais with soothing waterfall gardens, barbecue, and of course, your own private hot tub. Do be aware, though, that as we're 'in the jungle' you'll see an occasional gecko, or ant! So don't let them freak you out! :):):)

☞ From Rainbow Lookout, you can see all the way along the north shore cliffs of Maui to Hana, and then the spectacular views just keep going ... over our orchard greenery and all the way up the slopes of Mt Haleakala, our 10,000 ft dormant volcano.

☞ Our location is ideal for exploring the whole island - but you don't have to stay in a crowded tourist area to do it ... 20 mins to Paia or Makawao, 1 3/4 hours to Hana, 75 mins to Lahaina, 45 mins to Kihei, 1 1/2 hrs up to the top of Haleakala etc. Maui is small enough so that you can stay in one place and have the whole island at your fingertips! BUT PLEASE BE AWARE THAT WE FEEL 'REMOTE'. The last mile of the Hana Highway before you turn off to Door of Faith Road is curvy, and the last third of a mile of our little road can be bumpy/ pot holey (depending on whether we've just had rain). This is a location intended for people who want that 'away from it all' feeling ... so if you're looking for big-time shopping and night life, this is NOT the place for you. Also note: nearest beach is Ho'okipa, about 20 mins away by car.

Our beautiful 44 ft" jungle pool" is shared but you rarely see anyone else at all as everyone is out exploring the island! Also, each accommodation is landscaped for absolute max privacy ... each cottage has its own private hot tub, lanais and barbecue areas.

There is now a lovely walk down to the top of the ocean cliffs - especially spectacular round sunset when the greens are fluorescent, the ocean is blinding blue, the hills are velvet and the cows peacefully inquisitive on either side of you in their pasture. A 'must' do (only a 10 minute walk).

We leave guest to enjoy their privacy, but we're always available for questions etc and all guests have our personal cell #s.

This region of the island is an outdoor paradise. There are so many things to do in Maui, and all of them can be accessed from our property. You will be minutes away from beaches, jungles, waterfalls, restaurants, and state parks. Everything you need to make the most of a trip to Hawaii.

We're very much a 'local style' neighborhood where people are relaxed, friendly and into the organic lifestyle. ★ Please drive along our small local road very SLOWLY (10 mph or less) as we like to 'blend' into our local neighborhood and be respectful to our neighbors.

We're a jumping off point to the road to Hana and our three small local towns - Haiku (15 mins to restaurants & groceries), Paia (a quaint beach town with a modern, fun vibe), and Makawao (a 'paniolo' / cowboy town with a unique Hawaiian flair). Then, of course ... you have golden beaches, giant sea turtle resting places, tide pools, boogie-boarding ... hiking the crater ... exploring the winery, the lavender farm, the goat farm (Surfing Goat Dairy - how cool is that?) ... the famous 'road to Hana' with all its riches ... waterfalls ... bamboo forests ... Maui's beauty will take your breath away. We think it's the most romantic island in the world (and we've lived here for 26 years!

This area is considered Maui’s “North Shore” and is full of lots of boutique shops, restaurants, farmers' markets, and local jewelers. No matter where you wander you are sure to get the full island experience and find something for the whole family.

You'll definitely need to rent a car for seeing the island. We recommend a medium clearance vehicle as small country roads can be a bit bumpy, (ours included - please drive only at 10mph on gravel roads). You won't need a 4WD unless you're going up to the Poli Poli State forest.

No resort fees, free WIFI, free laundry and most importantly, lots of Aloha!

-We don't do daily maid service, but will happily supply you with fresh linens or cleaning supplies. Ocean Lookout has its own private laundry.

-We make the security and privacy of our guests a priority and as such request that OUR ACCOMMODATIONS ARE FOR REGISTERED GUESTS ONLY.

Another note - we're a SMOKE FREE PROPERTY.

-We request that you please please please shower off all sunscreens/body lotions etc before using our hot tubs or pool! Also, please do NOT use any scents or soaps in the tubs as this will necessitate a complete draining of the tub, replacement of filters etc and you would be charged $100 from your security deposit. Also please rinse off after the beach as it's no fun vacuuming sand out of our hot tubs!


-WE DO NOT HAVE CABLE, but we do HIGH SPEED INTERNET so you can stream Netflix, Amazon video, etc on your smart TV. We're an ideal home base if you need / want to plan a 'working' vacation, and need to conduct business calls from your place.
