Barrier Headquarters entire complex. Unobstructed 270 degree view beach/mountain

  • Tem vistas deslumbrantes e viradas para norte de 270 graus sobre a praia, baía e montanhas de Medlands. Apenas a alguns minutos a pé da espetacular praia de Medlands via estrada ou uma trilha no mato. Toda a casa é ecologicamente correta, com captação de água potável e painéis solares que fornecem toda a energia elétrica.

    A cozinha tem um grande freezer com fogão a gás e fogão, e um bar da ilha de concertos enorme.

    Acesso para pedestres via ponte de pedestres (do campo de campismo) através do córrego e depois a oito minutos a pé da casa. O acesso de veículos a todas as casas exige a travessia desse fluxo de maré de Oruawharo na maré baixa !!! É necessário um veículo com tração nas quatro rodas, mas o que incluo é um Toyota Hilux 4x4 no lado oposto da ponte de pedestres para ser usado sem trocas (exclusivamente somente neste lado) durante toda a sua estadia para transportar passageiros e bagagem para a casa. Há um meet and greet na ponte de comida para trocar as chaves do carro e destrancar a casa.

    Todas as refeições são auto-suficientes, portanto, se você quiser itens especiais, é recomendável levá-los para a ilha, embora existam lojas e cafés localizados em Claris, Tryphena e Port Fitzroy, se você tiver seu próprio transporte.

    Barreira é um destino incrível com surf, pesca e mergulho de classe mundial à sua porta. O extremo sul da praia de Medlands é adequado para o lançamento de barcos.

    As instalações de telefone / Internet / lavanderia estão localizadas na Claris, ao lado da loja geral.
    O cume do Monte Hobson, as fontes termais naturais de Kaitoke e as represas históricas de Kauri valem a caminhada.

Best spot on the barrier

AJ’s place was fantastic, he was such a responsive host and ensured our stay was easy. The place is across the river crossing so it is important to have a 4WD or arrange for AJ to transport you and your luggage from the campground. Would definitely stay again

Perfect for two families

This bach was ideal for our two families. Lots of space and plenty of ensuite bathrooms. The kitchen was a highlight, great outlook for entertaining. Epic view out to Medlands beach. From star-gazing, to snapper to surfing and swimming, we had an awesome holiday!

Fabulous house in an unbeatable location - Highly recommend 10/10

We stayed at AJ place over Easter. This place is in the perfect spot, views, lots of entertainment you name it. We would 100% come back to GBI and stay at this house again. AJ is a great host, his communication is great as well. Thanks AJ!

Luxurious, large, off-the-grid bach

Despite the terrible weather, we had a wonderful stay at Barrier Headquarters. The beds and couch were very comfortable, the kitchen is huge and well appointed, and there are lots of bathrooms too. The view from the deck is impressive, as pictured. Lots of good walks around - including the Kowhai Track, along the beach and around the bay. We weren't impressed when the cost per night jumped after we reduced our stay from 4 nights to 3 nights, but Anthony was so accommodating, we forgave him!

Family Christmas Trip

The house was lovely and the view exceptional, it was just very unfortunate for us that the property manager forgot to pick us up after confirming meeting spot and time the night before. Unfortunately the property was not clean and the front grass was knee high and the back grass was waist high. The inside of the house had a couch that hadn’t been cleaned and the benches also had also not been cleaned.. was a stunning property it was just very unfortunate for us that the property had not been maintained properly for our visit.

Large, well appointed accommodation with stunning views

The property was across an estuary which could only be crossed at low to mid tide. This was a concern at first, but the old subaru ferried us and our stuff up and down the hill, and it proved only to be a minor inconvenience. There was 7 of us, on a surf trip. Catering was not difficult. There were enough pans, crockery and cutlery and glassware. The beds were comfortable. and there are multiple bathrooms. The house is run on solar electricity. We didn't run out of electricity (but we did turn off the lights when not needed. I understand there is a generator if needed) Overall we were very happy with the place. Note there is no inhouse laundry (not an issue if you bring enough undies)

Very special property with plenty of wow factor.

The whole house is very high end in quality and style.It spaciously accommodated six of us .Great for entertaining and doing your own cooking.There is plenty of comfy seating and a lovely deck area with views you will never want to leave.Perfect for soaking up the relaxed essence of Great Barrier Island. Quiet , peaceful location. Thank you Anthony for sharing your amazing piece of paradise.

Best Week Ever

Wow. Just wow. What a special place. Pictures don't do the house and the view justice, this might just be the most incredible spot on the island. We had such a special family holiday, what an experience. We will be back!

Had an excellent vibe about it only slightly off the beat and track meaning you are able to get lost in the wilderness of GBI. Large kitchen and good size bedrooms!

Beautiful property great hosts

We arrived at Claris made our way from the airport to the accommodation. the car parking for the property is in a small Reserve which is part of a campground you cross over a small bridge and there is a car stored on the other side to take you up the hill. the walk is about 5 to 8 minutes if you should choose to. I believe there is a bushwalk but we never actually found this. the house has amazing views the weather for us was a bit marginal but the house is beautifully appointed. there is no toaster and no jug everything is done on or in the oven. As we were a group of 8 that was suggested we got the fire going to ensure there was enough hot water however no kindling was supplied and we had to go to a neighbour for an axe to actually cut some but once that was done we were away as wokd was made available. the house was beautifully warm and we never run out of hot water .The heating was using the log fire and radiators in bottom bedrooms. The hosts were amazing with great communication and more than happy to accommodate in anyway I would certainly recommend the house, its appointments, it's location and the hosts to anybody looking. there is no washing machine available just be aware that is down the road at the local store so that also needs to be a consideration potentially for longer stays. Thankyou

Absolutely stunning stay

This was the absolute best place to come and relax after doing the Aotea track with a big crew. Very clean and spacious and a gorgeous view and easy access to the beach. Also, Anthony and Lucia were both very communicative and friendly and really helped us have the best stay possible. We are already planning our next trip back to Great Barrier and will definitely be staying here again. :) Thanks so much for an amazing stay.

Stunning house and location

This is very well appointed rental accommodation and absolutely perfect for three couples. The views are outstanding and the house is spotless. The beds and linen are excellent and the owner is very friendly and helpful. If you want luxury beach accommodation in a remote setting, this place fits the bill.

Very comfortable and well equipped house

Very comfortable and well equipped house. The view of the beach and distant ranges from the main room and deck is spectacular. While there is no dining table inside there is a four seater bar and a large table on the deck that easily seats 8 people. The outside dining option is weather dependent. The kitchen is very well sit up for cooking large family meals. Use of the dishwasher and clothes washing machine would be useful for large family groups staying a week or more.
