The Hill House offers a great view, plus it's close to town and dog friendly!

The Olli family is proud to announce the opening of The Hill House, their newest vacation rental in Grand Marais, Michigan. Be one of the first to enjoy this gem of a property situated on a large lot high on Ridge Road with incredible panoramic views of the harbor and Lake Superior.

Although the property has been in the family for over 50 years, extensive renovations and a top to bottom overhaul, including new plumbing, wiring, insulation and a master bedroom addition are complete and ready to be enjoyed.

The Hill House features three bedrooms and sleeps a maximum of six people. It’s a ranch style home with 1.5 bathrooms. There is a queen master bedroom with a TV & a full bath, a second bedroom with a full size bed and and a third bedroom with two twin beds. This property is a 5-minute walk from town with ample trailer parking and plenty of privacy. The home features Wi-fi, a 50-inch smart TV and a well-equipped kitchen with dishwasher. A washer and dryer and large elevated deck on the lakeside round out everything you’ll need for your stay.

Easy access to snowmobile trails. No need to use a trailer for transport.

Like the Ollis’ other sought after Grand Marais rental (VRBO 1461916, The Big House), this home is family owned and managed by a partner residing in town year-round who will quickly respond to any issues or concerns.

Fire pit to be installed Spring 2024.

Please note that from Mid June through Labor Day, there is a week long minimum stay with check in on Sunday only @ 3pm and checking out the following Sunday by 10am.

• 2 rolls of paper towels
• Dish soap, hand soap, dishwasher detergent
• Drip coffee machine with filters plus a Kuerig
• Trash bags

Our stay was wonderful and cozy. We somehow mixed up our days but they graciously accommodated us. The weather was awful in most people's books but was amazing to us since we snowmobile. Trails, food, town, snowmobile equip, etc are all very close. We had deer in the yard. When the snow wasn't blizzarding, we could see Lake Superior - very pretty! This home had all of the amenities we needed and it allowed our dogs to come which was great!

We were very impressed with how clean and well stocked the house was. The location of the house was perfect for seeing the attractions. When we needed Dan he came right over to help. The yard was big and and the landscaping gave our dogs boundaries. Would not hesitate to recommend this house.

This property was run down, a trailer parked in the back area, weeds, dirtly grill, smelled like dog and smoke.We did not stay and notified the owner. no word back as of yet.

Great Deck View of Lake Superior

We loved our visit to Grand Marais. The house is clean and has an awesome view of the lake. It is close to town and the beach for rockhounding and not far from several waterfalls. Our dog especially liked hanging out on the deck with a gate to keep him in. We would definitely stay here if we are ever in the area again.

Beautiful!

We loved this house! The location and view were amazing, everything was even better than described. It was very windy our first night and the house never even creaked. The owner is a great guy and was very welcoming. We would stay here again, 1000%.

location & location

Very Clean, nice living area, fully stocked kitchen & wifi worked great. Space worked fine for our needs but just a heads up that the only shower is in the master bedroom so using that for guest might be awkward. The shower pressure or shower head is not great. Good enough to get clean - but could use something to really make it a perfect experience.

Winter Wonderland

The hill house was a perfect winter getaway. We came to snowmobile and the conditions were perfect in every direction. The hill house was perfectly located and was very comfortable to stay in. The hill house is pet friendly so we were able to bring our dogs. I loved all the deer. They were everywhere. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely do it again...the house is perfect size for two couples.

A great place to stay for a snowmobile trip. House is newly remodled. Plenty of parking for large truck/trailer(s). Beautiful view and walking distance to town. Trails are accessible with a small bit of roadside riding to get to them. Host was very responsive.

Can’t Wait to Return

We’ve stayed at The Big House and were so excited to stay at this property this year. And our expectations were, unexpectedly, far surpassed! The home was wonderful, check in was easy, the location was perfect, we loved it so much. And we can’t wait to come back again!

Great Stay

Loved the location. Grand Marais is an awesome little haven with a very unique vibe. It’s really special. This house is super close to the main stretch, where you’ll find a handful of bar/restaurants and gas. Good gift shop too. We were able to see the northern lights at Agate Beach—a first for us. The house is super clean, set in a wooded area overlooking Lake Superior. The only downside is the lack of water pressure in the kitchen and shower. Bed and pillows were not very comfortable. I guess we need to start bringing our own pillows. Overall, you’ll like the place. Perfect spot. Check out Agate Beach for northern lights. Ice cream shop in town is really good. Best ice cream I’ve had. We liked Grand Marais Tavern for dinner, but beware—Thursdays are super crowded because it’s “Thirsty Thursdays”.

Love Grand Marais even more than the Last 5 or 6 Trips

Enjoyed the accomodations! Even the Washer & Dryer were a Hit. Went on side by sides for a Run on Saturday and saw how crazy our Boyz were on Hill climbing!
