Escape to the tranquil beauty of Lake of Egypt! This property is a perfect landing for those seeking a relaxing retreat just minutes from the Shawnee National Forest & local wineries. You’ll be surrounded by stunning scenery & endless opportunities for outdoor adventure. Our spacious one-bedroom rental features a king bed & a full-sized pullout, making it the perfect size for a romantic getaway or a small family vacation. The full kitchen is equipped with everything you need to cook up delicious meals, & the covered porch provides the perfect spot for enjoying breakfast with a view. Step outside & follow the path to the lake, where you’ll have access to your own private dock for boating & swimming. In the evenings, gather around the fire pit for s’mores and stargazing while watching the twinkling glow of the fireflies. Located 4 miles from I-57 & I-24. Comfortable for up to 4 people.

We wanted to visit this area of IL for our 36th anniversary. The cottage is in such a beautiful location, very scenic views that we loved waking up to in the mornings. Everything was clean and cozy and comfortable, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for such a spot. It was a very nice place to come back to after a day at Giant City State Park, and finding various area restaurants with great BBQ.

Our hosts communicated with us before our visit and provided great information and reviews about area activities and restaurants in the cabin when we arrived. The cabin was nicely decorated, clean, and included everything we needed in the kitchen. The porch provided a peaceful place to sit and watch the wildlife and sunsets. We look forward to returning again!

This property is located close to plenty of antique shops and two beautiful state parks as well, yet secluded from any traffic after a day of adventuring. A super clean and comfortable place with modern amenities and charmingly decorated. While relaxing on the front porch, we saw deer, turkey, bluebirds, and even a fox. It was a great place to wind down for a few days. Denise made sure we had everything we needed.
Breakfast spot perfect for wildlife and bluebird viewing on the front porch.
Open field beyond fence where deer gather in the mornings and evenings.

We had a wonderful time on Crews Mountain during our visit to the Shawnee National Forest! The cabin has a great location in near the center of the park and is better than shown in the photos. It is an accessory dwelling on a well-landscaped property that has an in ground pool and a lake with swimming dock. The cabin was fully stocked with everything we needed. We saw lots of wild life, such as a fox, turkeys, geese, toads, and a hawk. We had a lovely visit and would certainly visit again!

Just what I needed

Beautiful. Peaceful. Clean. Perfect.The time I spent on the dock was a dream.It happens to be on a lone curve across from a little island that an amazing array of birds goes to and fro all day. Every type of winged creature seemed to soar above and around me. Great egrets and herons swooped down swift and steady just above the water right past me. I tell you it was just glorious.The song of nature all around in every bird call , splash of water, wind in the trees .. I spent hours and hours at the lake .. and my nights in a heavenly nest of a bed! I felt safe and cozy and nothing but great vibes from my texts with the owners and one brief encounter on the grounds. Good people.I will absolutely be back.

Perfect!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was so spacious, clean, adorably decorated, had everything we needed and more. The location was perfect for day trips to Garden of the Gods, Paducah and excellent antiquing. We enjoyed walks around the property in the evening and dinner at several locations recommended by Denise. We hope to stay again.

Private and cozy

We loved this little cottage which provided us with a much needed get away. Very, very clean and tidy, it contained just what was needed. We enjoyed the outdoor fire pit while watching the wildlife and sunrises/sets. I would definitely return as the hosts were so kind yet not intrusive. I will note the cottage is located right by the main house. This was not an issue for us and we did not see anyone, but others may want something more secluded.

Just what we needed

Very nice cabin. Close to all the hiking we had planned. The walk to the lake was much harder than it seems in pictures and very steep. Everything else was very comfortable and we had the solitude we were seeking. Would stay here again.

Denise and Ken are wonderful hosts, and they have a fantastic place at a great location. The cabin has been thoughtfully created with all the conveniences and touches of a home. The beautiful porch was our favorite spot to enjoy tea/coffee in the mornings and evenings. The kitchen is well-stocked with cooking essentials and pantry staples for homemade meals. The mattress was really comfortable, helping us get a great night's rest. Loved the little drive under the canopy of trees along the hill leading up to the cabin. The location is great for access to Shawnee National Forest, Ferne Clyffe State Park, and other great spots in the area. Denise's food and hiking recommendations were much appreciated. Highly recommend this place and we look forward to returning in the future.

Perfect weekend

The cabin was as described and more! So clean and comfortable for my family of 4. We enjoyed swimming and fishing in the lake. Do recommend a good shoe for the walk to the lake as it is a bit steep. The owners were very helpful and so nice. We highly recommend this cabin and would definitely come back. Quiet and relaxing!

Quiet and Beautiful

We had such a wonderful stay at this property! Everything was very clean and comfortable. The owners were very helpful with local information of hiking locations and great places to eat. We visited many different areas of the Shawnee National Forest all within an hour drive or less. We will definitely be back again soon!
