This gîte is in a wonderful location on a south-facing slope at an altitude of 710 metres, in the heart of the Monts d'Ardèche Regional Nature Park. It offers a beautiful view over the wild and romantic Glueyre valley, whose picturesque granite rock formations have been sculpted by nature. The house is set in a 200-year-old chestnut grove and terraced. Access is via a single-lane tarmac road. Far from the noise of traffic, surrounded by nature, you can enjoy peace and quiet here. The only other inhabitants of the hamlet are the owners. They live in one of the four stone houses in the hamlet of Chapelèche. This hamlet dates back to 1342 and the owners have lovingly restored Chapelèche Les glycines, combining modern facilities with traditional elements of Ardèche farmhouses.
The gîte is a detached house with independent access. The gîte has 130 m² of space for four to ten people. Free WiFi available throughout the gîte.
The Chapelèche gîte "Les Glycines" has 3 levels linked by a 4 m² internal staircase between levels 1 and 2, and by an external staircase between levels 0 and 1:
* On level 0 : - an outdoor courtyard with a south-facing view of the Monts d'Ardèche. At your disposal: 1 table, 8 garden chairs, - a separate bedroom with 1 single bed (2m x 0.90 m) + 1 washbasin + 1 WC + 1 small table + 1 very small window. This room is accessible from the outside courtyard.
* Level 1 : - a 13 m² bedroom with a 2-seater bed (length: 190 cm, width: 140 cm), a table, + an adjacent 3 m² cloakroom including an ice cupboard + a door to the inner courtyard + 1 south-facing window + curtains. - a 3.5 m² shower room with 1 WC and 1 washbasin - a 3 m² shower room with walk-in shower and washbasin - a 4 m² hallway - an 8 m² bedroom under the terrace with 2 single bunk beds (length: 200 cm, width: 90 cm), a small school desk, a chest of drawers and a corner washbasin with hot and cold water. This room is accessible from the outside, either through a door leading to the living room on level 1 described below. - a large 40 m² lounge/equipped kitchen, including a 2-seater sofa bed (length: 200 cm, width: 140 cm), 1 stove, kitchen utensils, 1 table, chairs. The living room and kitchen can be separated by a curtain running the full width of the room. This lounge adjoins the 8 m² bedroom under the terrace.
NEW! Since 2023, the floor of level 1 has been heated by solar panels. This heating can be supplemented by a wood-burning stove (wood provided).
* Level 2: - a 2 m² entrance hall with a large storage cupboard, with a door providing access to the 1st level. - a 3 m² vestibule with a retractable ladder to access the mezzanine - a bright 21 m² bedroom with a large south-facing panoramic bay window (with curtains), a double bed (length 190 cm, width 140 cm), a desk, a chest of drawers, a mirror cabinet and a Provençal wardrobe. This room has Ethernet access. - A 38 m² living room/kitchen/dining room forming a single space with a wood-burning stove, 2 large picture windows (one to the east, one to the south), a glazed door to the west giving access to a terrace on the same level, a 2-seater sofa-bed (length: 200 cm, width: 140 cm), a large rectangular table for up to 10 people + 8 chairs. Kitchen equipped with: a very large sideboard, cupboards, crockery (for up to 10 people), full set of kitchen utensils, fridge-freezer (height: 160 cm, width: 60 cm, depth: 60 cm), gas hob, electric oven, double sink with hot and cold water, 5 bins (selective sorting). - 5 m² shower room with washbasin, spacious walk-in shower (hot and cold water) and washing machine. - a 13 m² south-facing terrace, completely shaded by a wisteria, with a view over the Monts d'Ardèche, on a level with the living room/kitchen (access via a metal balcony overlooking the courtyard). This terrace is surrounded by a metal balustrade on the south side and a 1.30 m-high wall on the east and north sides to ensure complete privacy. Round glass table + ten chairs. - an 11 m² mezzanine accessible from the vestibule (height under ridge: 1.30 m) with a double bed (length: 190 cm, width: 140 cm) and two Velux roof windows.
* Outside (level 1): an inner courtyard with a south-facing view of the Monts d'Ardèche. At your disposal: 1 table, 10 garden chairs, barbecue
It is possible to hike from the gîte itself: a signposted path passes at the foot of the gîte and takes you to Gluiras in half an hour (there is a grocery shop, a café-restaurant and a gourmet restaurant). If you continue on this path, you can return to the hamlet of Chapelèche in 3 hours, as it is a loop path that allows you to explore the surroundings perfectly: terraces, chestnut groves, meadows, streams and the crest of the mountain culminating at 1,000 metres, with views of the Vercors Massif and part of the Alpine Massif.)
The whole area around the house is easily accessible, so you can set off on long walks or mountain bike rides. You can swim in the nearby river Glueyre, or in a supervised swimming area near Saint Sauveur de Montagut. The "Ardelaine" wool museum is also worth a visit (in St Pierreville, 5 km away). The river and the village are only ten minutes away. A trip to Mont Gerbier des Joncs (the highest point in the Ardèche and source of the Loire River) is 3/4 of an hour away. You can also visit the Grotte Chauvet (replica of a prehistoric cave recently discovered by Chauvet) (in the south of the Ardèche, about 1 hour 30 minutes' drive away).
