The Hideaway-Jamaica Beach Gem

Welcome to the Hideaway at Blackbeard, a first floor, 2 bedroom/2 bath apartment stylishly furnished and well appointed for our guests to enjoy within walking distance to the beach in Jamaica Beach - eateries (Way West Grill, a new Mexican restaurant, and more) a coffee shop, local convenience stores, etc. This is a small, 12-unit apartment complex and we'd love to have you Come Stay With Us!

Jamaica Beach is a city within the city of Galveston with a City Park, boat launch (if you're bringing a boat we will need to register your tow vehicle with the City, they charge $10 fee applies) to use the City's boat launch. The complex is across 3005 from the beach itself - it's so close you can see the water from the front porch and one of the favorite ways of guests to travel is to rent a golf cart.

The apartment has been furnished with high quality furniture and mattresses and nothing was overlooked when equipping the kitchen.

Primary bedroom has a queen bed, walk in closet and en suite bath with a custom-tiled shower.

Second bedroom has twin over double bunks with a twin trundle - so 4 can sleep here, and the living room has a queen sleeper sofa.

Dining table for either meals, puzzle building or rowdy family card games.

The kitchen has all full-sized appliances, and countertop appliances including a crock pot, coffee maker, blender, etc. All the cookware silverware dinnerware and glassware you could need are here (bring your own underwear!).

The other 11 apartments are rented long-term so you will truly be living like a local! Each apartment has one assigned parking spot (designated by the letter) and there are enough spots at the complex for one additional vehicle - though the second spot may not be right in front of your door.

We provide self check in instructions and then we allow our guests to enjoy their stay uninterrupted. However - should you need anything we are but a phone call away. This information is emailed 24-72 hours ahead of your scheduled arrival time.

What's included: Bed linens for all beds, bath, hand and wash cloth for each guest that the unit welcomes. We do not provide beach/pool towels and we do ask that ours not be removed from the condo and taken to the beach or pool. They can get damaged or lost.

Starter supplies: 2 rolls of 2-ply, quilted toilet paper, a roll of paper towels, a dishwasher tablet, small dishwashing liquid, sponge, 2 small soaps, 2 small shampoos, trash bag, and coffee including sweeteners, stir sticks, powdered creamer to make that first pot. These are not intended to last your entire group through your entire stay - but to get in, get situated and figure out where you will shop for what on the island.

After making your reservation you will receive a link to complete our renters agreement. The only information we request differently than the booking platforms (VRBO/AirBnB) is your personal email address, the names and ages of each person who will be in the property during your stay, and your driver’s license information as well as an emergency contact should we need to reach someone on your behalf. Thank you for completing this in a timely manner so that we may send you the check-in instructions for the property you have reserved.

WE ARE UNABLE TO SEND YOUR CONFIRMATION INFORMATION UNTIL THE ABOVE INFORMATION IS ALL RECEIVED IN OUR OFFICE.

Galveston is a barrier island located in the Gulf of Mexico. The island is susceptible to rainstorms, thunderstorms and even a hurricane now and then. Sometimes these result in temporary power and WiFi outages. We strongly encourage our renters to consider purchasing trip interruption/cancellation protection either through the platform that you book through or some other source. My Galveston Getaway issues refunds if a governmental official issues a mandatory evacuation of the island. Unfortunately we are unable to control sunshine, temperatures and mosquitos and do not refund other than pursuant to our policy based on evacuation orders. Thank you for understanding.


For all reservations made directly through our website and through VRBO, there is a $300 security deposit “hold” required. You certainly can purchase trip cancellation/interruption coverage through those platforms as well if you so desire, this is a damage “deposit” hold. This is released once our housekeepers advise that the property has been left in the condition received with no damages occurring during your stay. This is not a charge, but a hold on the credit card on file with which the reservation is made. Should there be damages and they exceed $300 to repair or replace, you will be notified and asked to make arrangements to compensate for those items.
