Wonderful spot for family (2- and 4-legged)

The room was very large and comfortable. The bed and bedding was so comfortable. We wish we knew where she got them from! Huge comfy bath towels, and a nice shower. The location can’t be beat.

Nice, charming bed and breakfast in historic old home. Property manager/owner very nice and responsive. Great location within short walk of downtown shopping and restaurants. Had a great time!

Cozy suite in historic home

Enjoyed a 2 night stay in late fall. Working fireplace in our suite added to the ambiance. Kate was a great host/good communicator. Breakfast each morning was delicious. Home location was easy walk to shops and restaurants.

Relaxing in Autumn

Our stay at Kate’s was quite nice. The accommodations were wonderful and we loved the fireplace. The breakfasts were more than plentiful and got us ready for our days exploring Galena. Thank you Kate for your hospitality!

Wonderful stay at the Federal House

Very charming property, conveniently located to shops and restaurants downtown with the quiet of a neighborhood. Kate, the host, was so welcoming and accommodating. She has thought of every amenity imaginable! The breakfasts were home made and fabulous. This is the best appointed property we have stayed at. Extremely comfy bed and suite. If visiting Galena again, we will definitely stay here!!

Weekend Getaway

The property was a great location to downtown and Oktoberfest. Loved that we could walk everywhere. Kate was a great host and the breakfast each morning was phenomenal! We would definitely recommend to other couples and would return to this property in the future.

Great location

Charming B&B located perfectly to explore downtown area. Breakfasts by Gabby were delicious and property manager Kate very easy to communicate with and cared about guests enjoying their stay. Would definitely recommend for a weekend getaway!

Amazing stay at the Federal House

Wife and I went to Galena for a weekend in early May and had an amazing time, in large part due to the beautiful home and services provided by Kate, her husband and support crew. Couldn't have gone more smoothly or been a more comfortable stay. The Federal House is truly amazing and we plan to visit again this coming Fall.

Charming property and wonderful hosts

The Federal House in Galena is perfectly located just a matter of steps from Main Street shops, restaurants, and other attractions. There are only two suites in the house, so no problems with crowds or noise. We were welcomed personally by the property owners who made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. They also checked in from time to time by text during our stay to provide restaurant recommendations and other useful information. The breakfasts were customized according to our preferences and were absolutely wonderful. We enthusiastically recommend this property.

Quiet weekend

The room was delightful and extremely cozy and I loved the fireplace. The bed was super comfortable, breakfast was delicious and having cookies available at all times was a really nice treat. The proximity to the Main Street was also very convenient. I would definitely stay again.

Great place to stay

We stayed at the Federal House over New Year’s Eve and Day. We just loved it. Kate was great and easily reached. The house was historic and decked out for the holidays. The walk to Galena’s Main Street was short but scenic. The chef, Gabby, made excellent breakfasts. We would definitely recommend the Federal House to you.

Historic Property w/Spacious Suite

My wife and I loved our two-night stay at this historic property. The suite we rented is spacious, and the king bed is wonderfully comfortable; same for the other suite, which we walked through on our second day after it had been vacated. Our breakfasts were quite a treat--egg skillet, scrambled eggs, sausage patty, bacon, hash browns, homemade cinnamon toast, fruit, and oatmeal. Plus, our cook (Gabbie), who also shared a wealth of information about natural health boosters, and our host (Kate) were wonderful to talk to during our visit. We will stay here again when visiting Galena.

A wonderful experience

We have visited Galena once a year for the last ten years. We have never found a place that we returned to. The Federal House was beautiful, perfectly located and Amy was an outstanding cook. We will return next year.

Wonderful!

Beautiful historic building full of charm. The accommodations were comfortable, clean and well appointed. The suite was quite spacious along with a working fireplace, large bathroom en-suite accompanied by everything you would need during your stay. Excellent breakfast too! We loved it!

Awesome B&B and Host

Our visit was for a weekday 3-night stay in Galena. The room had everything a person possibly want or need - clean, well-organized, and beautifully decorated. Kate was in contact inquiring about our needs and was very responsive. The B&B is located within a short walk to Main Street where all the shops and restaurants are situated. A full (delicious) breakfast is served in the dining room at your convenience or delivered to your door. A return visit to the Federal House B&B is in my future! Oh, and a sweet patio to sit outside.

Home away from home

Kate is the owner. Super friendly & an awesome communicator. She will bend over backwards to make your stay enjoyable. This B&B is 1 block from all the shopping. Our room was clean, decorated with taste & comfortable. No sharing of bath or shower. Everything works as you would expect. Amy cooks the b-fast. She is fast & efficient & an awesome cook. She goes out of her way to please. Would we go back? You bet we would. Thanks Kate for the wonderful experience.

Absolutely fantastic!!

We stayed at the Federal House for only a couple of days, just a quick get away. The room was more spacious than we thought and very comfortable. If there was anything you needed or forgot, they had it. We love history and we were quite charmed by the home. Simple to get to and only a block off Main St, close to shops, restaurants and historical spots if they are an interest. The breakfast each morning was fabulous and there were several options. We chose to have it in our suite and it was there each morning promptly. We did not get to do as much as we would have liked due to the heat, so we will definitely return. I could not imagine staying elsewhere as this is one of the best places we’ve ever stayed. Kate, the host, was communicating with us regularly to make sure we had everything we needed. She also made some great suggestions for dining there. Looking forward to going back when it’s a bit cooler. Loved it!!
