Casa do Castelo sits in an elevated position right next to the imposing Fortaleza do Pico only a few minutes walk from Funchal city centre with all its wonderful restaurants, shops and attractions. This is a charming quiet residential neighborhood known for its commanding views and many museums.

This stunning and spacious apartment is part of a modern building comprising of only two residential units. The entrance hall provides an immediate “wow factor” and the staircase leads elegantly and invitingly to the living room, located on the first floor, where the full length window leading onto the balcony, affords the most magnificent views of Funchal city, the bay, surrounding mountains and the sea. You have to pinch yourself to realise the view is real and not a beautiful painting!

Crisp white walls, wooden floors and stylish modern furnishings create a sense of tranquility and charm. Essentially all the main accommodation is located on the same level. In the living room a large sofa and comfortable armchairs provide an enjoyable sitting area where everyone can get together in front of floor to ceiling windows opening onto the glorious cityscape panorama. The living room has cable plasma TV, and high speed Internet is available throughout the flat. A large dining table seats up to eight people with a sleek well equipped kitchen conveniently located right next to it. There is also a separate utility room with a washing machine.
On the same floor as the living room and the kitchen all three double bedrooms are located, two of which have direct access to a balcony and one has a private bathroom with bathtub. There is a second large family bathroom with a shower.

The modern feel continues into the top floor where you find a large and airy attic space with roof windows converted into a perfect study and a leisure area with space for reading or games. There are also two futon beds here which are suitable for occasional usage for additional guests, children/teenagers. There is also a WC and basin on this floor.
Highly unusual in central Funchal the apartment comes with the benefit of two private parking spaces in an underground secure garage.
The whole impression is one of style and understated luxury. And of course the wonderful balcony where there is a constant temptation to sit and enjoy a good book or glass of wine, and to admire the stars as night falls.

The property is located one minute walk from the Fortress of São João Baptista do Pico and a children's playground with a friendly support bar/café. A few minutes walk away you will be in the centre of Funchal, the capital of Madeira Island. Nearby are other must-see places such as: Cruzes Museum and the respective Cruzes Viewpoint, Santa Clara Convent or João Carlos Abreu's Universe of Memories. Downhill and at a short walking distance are located shopping centres, supermarket, pharmacies, hairdressers, retail shops and other services.
In the city centre there are several possibilities with activities for all tastes. Cultural activities, radical activities, activities connected with nature, whatever the purpose of your visit to Madeira Island.

The best option to get to the property is by transfer. Ask us to arrange one with our local partners. It's cheaper than the cabs you'll find at the airport. If you rent a car, any navigation app will easily find the address.

OTHER OBSERVATIONS
- According to Portuguese law, all guests are required to present a valid ID. (passport or identity card).
- Check-in hour must be scheduled in advance. If it is not scheduled within a maximum of 48 hours before, guests will be subject to the availability of our team.
- All bed linen and towels are provided. We can also put a baby cot, a high chair and a baby bath if needed, but you should request. There are a first aid kit, extinguishers and fire blanket in the property.

ATTENTION
Please be advised that a Tourist Fee will be charged to all persons staying overnight in the municipality of Funchal. Thus, all customers staying in tourist resorts and/or accommodation establishments, aged 13 or over, will be charged €2.00 per person/night, up to a maximum of 7 nights and a maximum of €14.00 per person/stay. When you arrive, you will receive a link to pay this municipal tax.
