Great little house. It was perfect for my wife and me. Location was great. I worried about the noise factor due to the location on Main Street, but it was extremely quiet. Highly recommend.

Misleading or False advertisement

It all was a great place especially our friends room #3 was great! Our Room #9 was not what it said to be! We were looking forward to soak in the bathtub it said it had and was a shower instead with dead crickets in it and spider webs and spiders in bathroom. Electrical out didn’t work in bathroom either

Great place to stay, and very cozy

Me and my wife went here for our honeymoon, it is a little bit of a walk all over Fredericksburg but the stay was not too far from Main street. I still recommend some comfortable shoes and we did love it being a quiet stay without kids or super loud music. 10 out of 10

Quaint, but not what we expected.

My husband and I spent one night at this property for our anniversary. The location is great and is walking distance to everything on Main Street. The cottage was cozy and clean. However, beyond that our experience was not a positive one. Shortly after arriving we realized that the fireplace didn't work. We contacted the rental office and they stated they would send housekeeping with new batteries for the remote, but no one showed up. Not a huge deal but disappointing. After returning from dinner we discovered that we had no hot water. I immediately called the rental office to report the issue and was directed by the voice recording to contact another number. I contacted the alternate number only to receive another voice mail. After three attempts, I gave up. We woke in the middle of the night to a warm, stuffy room and discovered that the wall AC unit was not working. Upon check-out, I emailed the rental office to let them know about the issues we encountered. I asked for nothing. No apology. No refund or discount of any kind. However, I was met with a barrage of emails questioning whether we called the office, if so when, and could we provide the times of our calls (which I immediately provided). Then crickets. In summary, we were not able to use the fireplace. The AC didn't work and we had no hot water. They did confirm that the hot water system is shared. So, if your neighbor uses all the hot water you're out of luck.

The cabin was nice and clean and super quiet. Parking was great and it was super close to all the downtown shopping places. Check in was easy as well as checkout.

close to everything and just far enough away for relaxation

cabin was exactly as presented. cozy and welcoming. bathroom was clean and neatly supplied with pool towels, soaps and tissues. kitchenette was adequate for our needs. only has a microwave and mini refrigerator; so do not expect to cook breakfast on a stove top. pool area was properly maintained and jacuzzi/ hot tub was clean and water was hot and jets all were working. our cabin number 9 was situated so you can enjoy sitting on the front porch and still have privacy. parking was adequate and fully lit parking lot with security cameras made me feel safe and never once worried about my car. very close to downtown shops and less then 5-10 miles from most breweries and wine tastings. only issues were some burned out interior light bulbs that needed to be changed.

Recommendation need a sign The Half Penny, out front little easier to see we drove around looking for the property twice passed it up walk on sidewalk to see the address so we knew we had the right place. Everything else was fabulous. Thank you,

We stayed in the small cottage in the very back of the property. It was very private and very quiet. It had everything we needed with the exception of a knife and a toaster. We swim in the pool and sat in the hot tub and for the most part we’re on interrupted by others on the property. I would stay there again, the location on the far end of town was also nice as there’s not a lot of traffic in that area.

Great place to get away

This was a very nice and quite area. Needed some maintenance and cleaning. Plants were dead and needs yard cleanup. Pool was dirty. Over all our room was excellent and would highly recommend this place.

Stay at Absolute Charm - Half Penny Cottage

The property was not clean. The rocking chairs on porch were dusty and dirty, bird droppings on seat. Outside table was dirty. Plants were overgrown and dead. Smelled musty odor upon entering cottage, had to purchase deodorant spray. Floors were dirty. Very disappointed in my stay. The pictures make it look much better than what it is. It needs a good cleaning and repainting and trees and bushes to be cut back and dead bushes cleaned out. Also the parking lot in unpaved, because of rain the area was very muddy. Sadly I would not stay here in the future, nor would I recommend this to anyone.

Great stay with comfortable bed

We stayed in the Half Penny. The bed was very comfortable - great mattress, soft linens and comfortable pillows. It was clean as well. The Half Penny is near the pool but tucked away off a little courtyard for privacy. Probably one of the best locations.
