This is a wonderful little house in the woods about 20 minutes from Franklin, NC. It is very peaceful, and as a +bonus+ gets ZERO cell phone reception due to its location. This is a great place to unwind and recharge. It is a 3 BR, 1 Bath with close to everything included. I forgot my robe. No problem. There were four of them ready and waiting for use. The kitchen has pots, pans, glassware, stove, fridge. There's even a clothes washer and dryer. All you really need to bring is food and your toothbrush/toiletries. The property includes a privately-owned, manmade lake (250 feet in diameter / 1 acre in size) with a 4-person paddle boat, a plastic 1-person kayak, and an 8-ft aluminum johnboat. Paddles and personal floatation jackets are included. There are fishing rods, even. Make sure to take a piece of bread to the dock to feed the bream. They attack the crumbs like piranha and are fun to watch. The lake also has trout. Laying on the dock at night is amazing! Being far from any city makes viewing the Milky Way a real treat! This house is +SO+ private that you can not see (nor be seen by) any other man-made structure or neighbor. There's a 4-walled, outside, hot water-equipped shower, which you definitely want to try. There is a large patio with overhead deck, and big, covered front porch. The patio has a swinging bed big enough for two adults, equipped with mosquito netting if you want to "glamp"/sleep outdoors. Despite the lake, bugs were not a problem at all in early October. The quaint town of Highlands is about 45 minutes away. There are many waterfalls in the area worth going to. I would recommend Picklesimer Rock House Falls (Park: 35.01238, -83.24927 and walk up an old logging road and trail to 35.018362, -83.253965) and Glen Falls (Park: 35.033490, -83.235533 -- trail is obvious) near Highlands. The owners are SUPER nice and bend over backwards to be helpful even making courtesy calls to make sure all is ok. There is free, secure WiFi, and a land phone -- so you're not 100% cut off from communication. The house is spotlessly clean and has items you might not expect (telescope, binoculars, 100-ish DVDs, board games, etc.). Two bedrooms have queen-sized beds and one has two twins. The sofa in the den is super comfy and could sleep two more adults. There's a propane grill, fire ring, and hammock. I have already recommended this property to two friends and I've only been home one day.
